How will you make an impact? In the role you will lead category management for multiple enterprise-wide global categories encompassing multiple functions and groups with complex requirements. Ensures that the category strategy is aligned with the functional / business objectives and work closely with corporate functions leaders, group and divisions presidents, divisions business partners, R&D, and business leaders to ensure category strategies are aligned cross functionally. Leads a category team responsible for strategic sourcing activities and supplier management functions. Builds organizational strength, creates robust sourcing strategies, negotiates agreements, manages strategic supplier relationships, and drives continuous improvement year over year savings.
Scale Of Responsibilities
- Connects key categories with all levels within Thermo Fisher business, divisions and corporate functions ensuring alignment of strategies and financial targets with the internal and external partners
- Accountable for the multi-year cluster / category strategies and plan objectives, timelines, and goals
- Analyzes cross-groups / divisional spending and develop global strategic sourcing plans to reduce the total cost of ownership for all business units and functions without compromising quality and service levels
- Demonstrates a measurable reduction in year-over-year total cost of ownership for the services and resources being sourced without compromising innovation, quality and service levels
- Considers financial planning, forecasting, P&L performance, inventory, cash flow and inflation to inform strategy
Key Responsibilities
Provides thought leadership in developing and implementing sourcing strategiesChampions the use of structured Category Management process to develop category strategies including diversity, sustainability and risk assessment and business continuityApplies AQSCIR (Assurance, Quality, Service, Cost, Innovation, Regulatory) method to develop and drive 3 to 5 year global sourcing strategies focused on identifying and contracting with suppliers that meet category management goalsCommunicates plans and progress to Enterprise colleaguesRuns the contracting process and leads coordination with Legal to ensure relationships are appropriately documentedLeads the supplier qualification, RFP, supplier selection, contract development, implementation, compliance, and ongoing supply base management processAssesses market intelligence for key trends, and uses predictive analytics to make risk mitigation recommendations to the businessDrives supplier consolidation through engaging and supporting Division Business Partners and Group Procurement Operations (e.g. sourcing engineers) to qualify preferred suppliers and migrate spend from incumbent, non-preferred suppliersApplies consistent project management approaches and processes, identifies and reports roadblocks and variances to project plans, ensures projects are on schedule and achieve stated objectivesLeadership Responsibilities
Leads the Global Sourcing Professional Services TeamDevelop staff to build expertise in both the areas of spending and in strategic sourcing processes.Mentor staff and develop team and training programs that addresses areas of improvement.Drives adoption of global sourcing strategies across the enterprise and ensures ongoing cross team collaboration.Champions use of e-Sourcing, Spend Visibility, and P2P tools company-wideWorks with Division Business Partners and functional colleagues to gather business requirements for category strategy developmentCreates and maintains a communication mechanism to ensure coordination with internal colleagues and reporting of sourcing impactLeads a Global Category Team to create expertise in both the areas of spending and in strategic sourcing processesMentors and develop staff through coaching and development plans to address individual areas of improvementImplement talent initiatives to improve Employee Involvement Survey resultsQualifications
Bachelor's Degree required or equivalent combination of experience and education; Graduate Degree in Business (Preferred), Finance, and / or Technical fieldMinimum 15 years' of procurement / sourcing experience with increasing global responsibility and experience in a large matrixed company environment, proven experience in the assigned category5+ years' experience leading and managing procurement teams with a focus on mentoring, coaching and performance managementStrong leadership and effective business partnering capabilities influence without authorityProven track record to lead cross-functional teams in a complex organizationStrong negotiation and presentation skillsStrong understanding of the strategic sourcing and category management processStrong project management skillsRequires ability to deal with ambiguity and the corresponding capacity to make decisions or recommendations based on potentially incomplete informationCapable of working across all functions and levels of an organizationInternational experience (plus) working experience in different countries / regions / languagesBenefits
