2024 Summer School Bilingual Family Specialist
RESPONSIBILITIES
During summer school, communicates with parents to ensure attendance
Serves as a bilingual / bicultural resource to school and community officials
Serves as liaison to the community helping English learners and families to access available county resources.
Works closely with school staff and families to ensure clear communication
Empowers parents of English learners to become involved in their child’s summer learning
EXPERIENCE :
Related experience and / or course work in social services, psychology or community relations or equivalent.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Assistants must meet the highly qualified requirements of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) at the time of hire.
Assistants shall achieve highly qualified status if they have a high school diploma, and
An Associate Degree or two years of college study. At least 60 semester hours, 12 which must be in English or mathematics, depending on job responsibilities, or
A score of at least on the Parapro Test.
Knowledge and credibility within the language minority population of the school system
Bilingual capability and proficiency in English and targeted languages.
Understanding and sensitivity for diverse cultural, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds of students.
Dependability and punctuality in attendance.
Physical ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
