Job description

Surgery Center of Chevy Chase, is seeking a motivated PreOp Pacu Registered Nurse to join our team. Bethesda Chevy Chase Surgery Center is a fast paced ASC environment committed to producing the highest quality work and experience for patients and their families.\n\nJob Summary : The PreOp RN is responsible for implementing all physician orders, providing for the continuity and quality nursing care for all patients, with continual evaluation of the patients' condition, providing patient safety comfort, and privacy at all times. Experienced in supporting in the following specialties : Orthopedics, ENT, General, GI, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Pain, Plastic, Podiatry, Urology.\n\nEssential Job Duties and Responsibilities : Include the following. Other duties may be assigned : \n

  • Delivers indirect and direct patient care according to established standards, taking into consideration the age and risk factors of the patient.\n
  • Acts as a patient advocate in meeting his / her physical and psychological needs.\n
  • Performs patient assessment and reassessment immediately upon admission and on a regular basis in accordance with standards of care with documentation of these assessments as a basis for planning each patient's care.\n
  • Ensures that all nursing interventions and patients' responses are communicated to responsible practitioners as indicated and that all components of the nursing process are documented in accordance with standards of practice.\n
  • Takes emergency call as assigned.\n
  • Understand practices and ensures sterile technique.\n
  • Integrates and coordinates care across settings and among disciplines.\n
  • Implements physician's orders effectively and safely in accordance with standards of practice.\n
  • Utilizes special precautions in the direct care and in the supervision of care provided to sedated patients.\n
  • Provides appropriate information to nursing personnel regarding the patients' status on transfer.\n

  • Must be a Registered Nurse with an unrestricted license in the state\n
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing\n
  • Must have at least 1-3 years' previous experience in PreOP / PACU\n
  • Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center strongly preferred\n
  • Must have current BLS, ALS and PALS\n
  • Must possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient\n
  • Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation\n
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when needed\n
