Center Security Officer

Overview

Be among the first 25 applicants. Responsible for patrolling an assigned area and enforcing rules and regulations to safeguard life and property from accidental or malicious damage. Provides transportation as needed.

Responsibilities

• Observes grounds and buildings to detect suspicious activities or circumstances.
• Prepares reports and maintains security log(s).
• Confronts suspicious persons to inquire into the nature of their business at the location.
• Apprises persons of the rules and regulations governing their presence on center property and warns violators of the penalties for infractions.
• Calls law enforcement officials and Supervisor to report the presence of unauthorized persons.
• Notifies Center Director if required to make any contact with an outside agency.
• Reports fire hazards, broken windows and other conditions affecting the security of the building to appropriate officials.
• Conducts monitoring of all smoke and fire alarm systems to ensure they are operable, free and clear of obstructions.
• Drives GSA vehicles as needed.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

10am - 6pm Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday - Must be flexible
