Performs selected and delegated nursing tasks in the care of patients. Completes patient physical assessment. Performs and / or delegates patient treatments as ordered by Provider and participates in education plan for patient / family.

Job Description

I. Major Responsibilities :

1. Assesses and obtain a patients basic health status records and related data according to standard procedure and needs of patient and their families.

2. Administers medications performs treatment as ordered and operates equipment according to policy and procedure.

3. Performs venipuncture using aseptic technique 12 lead EKGs and administers vaccinations.

4. Participates i n implementation and evaluation of care plan including long and short-term goals nursing actions and teaching.

5. Documents patient care according to standard procedure. Records and reports observed symptoms reactions treatments and changes in patient condition to Provider and / or R N and assists in analyzing and interpreting patient data.

Standard Staffing Level Responsibilities :

1. Complies with established departmental policies procedures .

2. Attends variety of meetings conferences seminars as or directed.

3. Participates in use of Quality Improvement in daily operations.

4. Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.

5. Respects diverse views and approaches demonstrates Standards of Respect and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism tolerance civility and acceptance toward all employees patients and visitors.

6. Maintains regular reliable and predictable attendance.

7. Performs other similar and related duties as or directed.

II. Position Qualifications :

License / Certification / Education :

Required :

1. Completion of an accredited practical nursing program .

2. Current Massachusetts licensure .

3. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Experience / Skills :

Required :

1. Knowledge of basic nursing procedures .

2. Strong interpersonal skills are to gather information from individuals build relationships that support collaborative work within the department and across the organization and provide exceptional service to patients.

Unless certification licensure or registration is an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments . The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description . Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.

III. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions :

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds . Work is of heavy demand standing and walking most of the time with the possibility of pushing heavy equipment and bending frequently . Position requires work indoors in a patient care environment.
