What is the role?
We are seeking a highly experienced Chief Space Systems Engineer to join our engineering team to oversee complete satellite systems engineering lifecycles and manage space mission projects from inception to delivery. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in satellite design, systems engineering, and project management to ensure all mission objectives are met on time to the highest quality standards.
This role is based in Denver, Colorado, where we are building a high-performing and fast-paced team. The position will be primarily on-site and in person at the office.
Some of your daily tasks will also include :
Satellite Systems Engineering :
Lead the development of satellite system architecture and design, including payload, C&DH, AOCS, propulsion, power, and communication systemsDefine and manage system requirements and interfaces, ensuring the integration of all subsystemsConduct system-level trades, performance analysis, and design optimizationDevelop comprehensive system diagrams including wiring diagramsOversee AI&T activities in a systems engineering roleDevelop and execute systems engineering plans, including risk management, schedule management, and resource allocationDevelop test plans, test procedures, assembly drawings, and assembly instructionsProvide expert guidance on satellite systems engineering and best practices across the entire design lifecycle (concept, design, development, testing, and operations)Project Management :
Lead and manage space mission projects, from initial concept through launch and operational deploymentDevelop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plansCoordinate and communicate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, vendors, and customersAct as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, ensuring that mission objectives are met and deliverables are completed on scheduleManage suppliers and subcontractorsIdentify, track, and mitigate project risks to ensure successful mission executionPrepare and present progress reports, technical documentation, and mission status updates to senior leadership and clientsWhat do we look for?
12+ years of experience in satellite systems engineeringBachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related fieldStrong proficiency of all satellite subsystems (propulsion, power, payload, communications, etc.) and their integrationExperienced with full satellite lifecycles, including mission design, AI&T, launch, and on-orbit operationsDemonstrated experience in managing complex space mission projects, including schedule and project managementExcellent communication skills, both technical and non-technical, with the ability to interface with all levels of engineering teams and external stakeholdersWillingness to travel occasionally in the US and internationallyBased in the Denver area or willing to relocateUS citizen or US permanent residentHow to Stand Out :
Previous experience in project execution applying ECSS standardsSystem modeling and simulation tools such as Matlab, Simulink and PythonKnowledge of cloud-based architecturesKnowledge of security architectures and standards applicable to space systemsKnowledge of satellite onboard processing and image processing and the potential use of AI algorithms for edge computingWhat do we offer?

The state of Colorado requires listing salary details. The salary will likely be within this range although it may differ based on experience level or other factors.
