Accounting Manager
No Job Description for a position can possibly include all duties which may be requested by guests or required by the hotel. The objective of all positions is to effectively provide the services personally, or to immediately refer requests to the appropriate department manager. The following is a summary of the major responsibilities of the position.
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the hotel's accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and providing insightful analysis to support strategic decision-making. This role combines managerial accounting oversight with financial planning and analysis to optimize the hotel's performance.
Key Responsibilities :
Accounting & Financial Reporting :
- Manage daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with company standards and local regulations.
- Ensure proper documentation and compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and review journal entries.
Financial Analysis & Planning :
Conduct variance analysis comparing actual results to budget, forecasts, and prior periods.Assist in preparing the annual budget and periodic forecasts.Provide financial insights and recommendations to management to support operational and strategic decisions.Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare management reports for department heads and senior management.Audit & Compliance :
Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and providing necessary documentation.Ensure compliance with local accounting standards, tax regulations, and corporate policies.Review and maintain internal controls to mitigate financial risks.Team Leadership & Collaboration :
Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all accounting processes.Collaborate with other hotel departments (e.g., operations, sales, revenue management) to optimize financial performance.Serve as a financial liaison for corporate reporting requirements.Qualifications & Skills :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in the hospitality industry.Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sun, Opera, ADP).Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.Preferred Competencies :
Experience in hotel or hospitality finance operations.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Leadership abilities with the capacity to train and develop a finance team.Ability to present complex financial data in a clear and concise manner.Working Conditions :
Full-time position based in Miami, FL.May require occasional evening or weekend work to meet reporting deadlines or support hotel operations.Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to) : $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 Per Year
