JOB SUMMARY
The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for marketing, advertising, and promoting the hotel's catering capabilities, soliciting business for catering functions, providing catering and banquet services to groups with meeting room and catering needs, and overseeing the servicing of clients.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Maximizes banquet and meeting space to meet or exceed individual goals.
- Responsible for communicating requirements of all hotel events to all Operational department levels in hotel.
- Assists Director of Sales in the development and updating of the hotel-level business plan to include input on sales goals and plans that support the overall business and sales strategies of the company.
- Develops and maintains good relationships with new and existing clients in order to produce group and convention business, to include room sales, food and beverage sales, and catering/banquet services.
- Develops hotel-level tactical sales and marketing plans to support overall system-wide sales plans, strategies and programs.
- Markets, advertises, and promotes the hotel's catering capabilities with the ultimate goal of increasing the hotel's catering profits.
- Creates and executes Banquet Event Orders for all meeting room, event catering functions in a timely manner.
- Prospects for new clients which includes setting up appointments, performing inside and outside cold calls as recommended per solicitation goals.
- Attends outside networking functions such as luncheons, chamber events, or other community/business-based networking receptions.
- Responds to all sales inquiries and voicemails by the next scheduled business day.
- Plans all hotel events from initial client inquiry to execution including but not limited to client correspondence, preparing and editing contracts, and payment processing.
- Manages department scheduling, inventory, and ordering.
- Performs daily operations for hotel's high volume events and catering department.
- Creates an event setting by organizing and maintaining timelines as a priority for every project.
- Completes all required Company training/compliance courses as assigned.
- Adheres to Company standards and maintains compliance with all policies and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or equivalent in related field.
EXPERIENCE
- A minimum two (2) years of experience in the hospitality sales field required.
- A minimum one (1) year of supervisory experience in the food and beverage field required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides immediate supervision to direct reports. Oversees and controls the work performance of others in a close working relationship, often in the same room or close proximity. A portion of the time may be spent performing individual tasks similar to those performed by direct reports. May participate in the interview, selection and training processes as assigned. May be responsible for assigning work to direct reports, reviewing results in accordance to policies and procedures, and providing recommendations to management.

- This position does not require licenses or certifications.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
This position requires the capability to understand and follow both oral and written directions, as well as, knowledge and usage of correct business English and office practices. Must be able to communicate effectively with others, analyze and resolve problems, maintain effective working relationships, and interact successfully with internal and external customers.
- Must possess a thorough knowledge of the hospitality industry.

- Must have extensive knowledge of food & beverage products, proper preparation and presentation of food and beverage items.
- Extensive knowledge of meeting room capacities, banquet set-up, audio -visual and any other pertinent details as they relate to function room setup.
- Ability to participate in the Manager-On-Duty coverage.
- Computer proficiency in Google Workspace.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Understands how to develop and implement business strategies.
- Proficient in time management; the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to take initiative and effectively adapt to changes.
- Able to establish and maintain a cooperative working relation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling and walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. Specifically, when the amount of balancing exceeds that needed for ordinary motion and maintenance of body equilibrium.
- Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.
- Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks. Specifically, for long distances or moving from one work site to another often.
- Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward, or outward.

- Peripheral Vision: Ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point.
- Depth Perception: Ability to judge distances and spatial relationships (three-dimensional).
- Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a minor amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work yet the work involves sitting most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Extreme Cold, Outdoor: Exposure to weather related extreme temperatures, wind, rain, and/or snow with no effective protection from the cold.
- Excessive Noise: Exposure to sufficient noise (caused by machines, music, voices, etc.) which warrants shouting in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
