Senior Physical Designer, Utility Substations

In this role, you will contribute to the design and development of utility substations, collaborating closely with engineering teams to produce accurate, high-quality deliverables. You will be responsible for drafting, modeling, and producing full substation design packages, ensuring work is completed on time and within budget. This role offers an opportunity to work on both greenfield and brownfield projects, applying technical expertise to select equipment, review designs, and support project execution. You will have the flexibility of a hybrid or remote work environment while contributing to critical infrastructure projects that impact energy delivery systems nationwide.

Accountabilities :

• Perform detailed design of 12.47–500kV substations and switching yards, including general arrangements, elevations, foundation plans, bill of materials, conduit, grounding, lightning protection, and illumination.
• Read, interpret, and apply electrical drawings, including one-line and three-line schematics.
• Select appropriate hardware and equipment for substation applications.
• Produce comprehensive substation design packages, ensuring compliance with specifications and quality standards.
• Review the work of other designers and drafters to maintain accuracy and consistency.
• Participate in field work, safety training, and professional development opportunities.
• Identify discrepancies in assigned work and escalate issues for timely resolution.
