Accountant IV
The Accountant IV position is within the Financial Accounting and Fixed Assets section of the Bureau of Accounting and is responsible for performing a wide variety of accounting and reconciliation functions. This incumbent is responsible for maintaining all location assignments codes, disposal of tagged property, lost / missing property, adding and issuing any new property labels, as well as maintaining the current list of custodian delegates for the Florida Highway Patrol. This incumbent is also responsible for coordinating and advising divisions or personnel regarding the annual inventory process for the agency.
Knowledge of State of Florida accounting policies and procedures
Skill in reconciling financial data, balancing financial accounts, and comparing records to determine whether the figures are accurate and in agreement
Ability to use analytical and critical thinking skills
Detail oriented with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
Skill in Microsoft Office applications including Access, Excel, Word, and Outlook
Ability to use sound judgment to identify problems, generate and evaluate alternative solutions, and make recommendations
Self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage completing deadlines
Skill in communicating effectively with internal and external customers, verbally and in writing
Ability to work well independently yet works cohesively within the section to maintain internal control measures
Preference will be given to candidates with the following :
Experience with property
Experience with accounting and financial data
High attention to detail
Microsoft Office applications include Access, Excel, Word, and Outlook
Experience using ServiceNow
The position requires sitting, standing, and using hands to type and handle office equipment.
The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and / or oral interview.
Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI.
FLHSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month. All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program.
