Boston Dynamics is seeking a Senior EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) Manager with special focus on machinery. This role will be responsible for NFPA and OSHA compliance of robotics and automation equipment during manufacturing, testing and maintenance operations.
In particular we are looking for a leading contribution to the analysis of hazards, job tasks and processes to identify workplace risk reduction actions in the use of robotics equipment subject to frequent reconfiguration.
The role will actively contribute to the preparation, supervision and improvement of safety plans in coordination with general EHS functions (e.
g. fire protection, hazardous substances).
Day to day activities include :
- Create Job Hazard Analysis and Activity Hazard Analysis for operations including but not limited to manufacturing equipment and testing and maintenance of the internal robot fleet.
- Conduct task-based risk assessments, regulatory compliance reviews and ergonomic reviews.
- Collect and interpret EHS data to identify trends in exposure or misuse of hazardous equipment.
- Work with other groups within the organization to root-cause safety-related events (incident, near-misses, warnings) and determine preventive actions.
- Contribute to the design of protective devices with Operations and qualify the residual risk evaluation of risk reduction measures.
- Track safety cases from initial reporting through conclusion.
- develop safety procedures, training content, and programs for internal stakeholders and service providers in accordance with regional regulatory frameworks.
- Support protocols and communication plans related to safety events and routinely audit the validity of risk analysis and the effectiveness of risk reduction measures.
- Communicates safety regulations, compliance requirements and required measures to internal staff to protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
- Support Safety Leadership in decision-making and enforcement of policies.

Desired skills :
- Bachelor's degree or above in Systems, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering is preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience in EHS Compliance or similar field.
- Expertise in automation safety standards (e.g., electrical, mechanical, chemica) and best practices, as well as excellent safety program management skills.
- Demonstrated expertise in methods such as HazOp, x-FMEA, STPA, and root cause analysis
- Experience developing and implementing structured analytical processes.
- Demonstrated expertise in best practices in use of automation equipment and related protective equipment.
- Experience identifying protective measures circumvention and misuse.
- Experience working closely with cross functional, diverse teams.
- Knowledge of NFPA and OSHA regulations.
