Senior Manager, Marketing Operations The Senior Manager, Marketing Operations is a member of Ionis’ Commercial Operations group, reporting to the Head of Marketing Operations. This role plays a critical part in supporting the commercial team and ensuring effective execution of key operational processes that enable Ionis’ commercial organization.
The primary responsibility will be to support the promotional material review (PRC) process in accordance with FDA regulations, ICH guidelines, and PhRMA guidelines. Additional responsibilities include supporting the print / production and fulfillment process, coordinating with third-party vendors, and helping maintain relevant policies and procedures to ensure compliance across all field and marketing operations activities.
Responsibilities
Support brand teams to provide operational support for execution of marketing initiatives, ensuring alignment with compliance and regulatory requirements.
Contribute to process optimization efforts that improve cross-functional workflows and enable ultimate field effectiveness.
Support development and implementation of standardized operating procedures, training resources, and best practices across marketing operations.
Help identify gaps and recommend solutions to improve efficiency, scalability, and team collaboration.
Assist in tracking and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
Content Review Process
Support the operational execution of the promotional materials review (PRC) process, including process documentation, training materials, and use of MLR technology tools.
Partner with PRC reviewers to answer questions, escalate issues, and help ensure efficient resolution.
Assist with quarterly PRC volume tracking and reporting to support accurate forecasting.
Maintain process-related documentation, user guides, and training support for the PRC electronic approval system (EAS).
Act as a key system user, partnering with Informatics on enhancements, testing, and issue resolution.
Coordinate vendor support and resource requests during periods of high volume.
Content Management / Production & Fulfillment
Support execution of the print / production and fulfillment process, including maintaining process documentation and training support materials.
Coordinate with Informatics and vendors on portal configuration, testing, and updates.
Provide operational support for fulfillment portal use, including answering field user questions and troubleshooting issues.
Partner with Marketing and other cross-functional teams to identify and support print / fulfillment needs to ensure timely execution and distribution.
Track and report on content management and fulfillment metrics to help identify opportunities for process improvement.
Support vendor coordination and day-to-day communication.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years’ OR Master’s degree with 3+ years’ progressive operational experience in the biopharmaceutical industry.
2+ years direct experience supporting promotional or non-promotional material review processes and systems (e.g., Veeva Vault PromoMats, MedComms).
Launch experience in rare disease markets highly preferred
Working knowledge of the regulatory and legal environment in pharmaceutical promotions and industry guidelines.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally to support standardized SOPs and process implementation.
Strong organizational skills with experience managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and adaptable, with a proven ability to support cross-functional projects.
Effective communicator with solid interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Familiarity with project management and collaboration tools such as SharePoint, Smartsheet, or similar.
Ionis offers an excellent benefits package. The pay scale for this position is $85,000 to $107,000.
