This Locum Nurse Practitioner position in Orthopedic Surgery involves collaborating closely with orthopedic surgeons to assess, treat, and manage surgical and nonsurgical orthopedic patients. The NP will provide both inpatient and emergency orthopedic care, assist in surgeries, perform a range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and ensure accurate documentation within the hospital s electronic health record system.
Dates & Schedule
Start Date : ASAP / ASAC (as soon as credentialed)
Credentialing Timeframe : Minimum 60 days
Work Week : Sunday Saturday
Overtime : After 40 hours
Call Coverage : Includes regular weekday, weekend, holiday, and 24-hour call rotations
Training : 4 hours unpaid EPIC training (testing out = 2 hours)
Job Details & Responsibilities
Collaborate with attending physicians to develop and implement patient care plans.
Conduct and document patient histories, daily rounds, and progress notes.
Order or perform diagnostic studies (e.g., EMG, EKG, x-rays, CT, MRI, bone scans).
Perform and assist with procedures such as tendon repair, wound care, debridement, incision and drainage, and hardware removal.
Conduct joint / bursa aspirations, fracture / dislocation reductions, and various orthopedic injections.
First-assist in surgeries, including tissue closure and application of orthopedic appliances.
Serve as the primary orthopedic call provider for emergency and inpatient units.
Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, quality initiatives, and documentation reviews.
Prepare discharge summaries, histories, and physicals for hospitalized patients.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Board Certified Nurse Practitioner Required
Active Oregon State License Required
Meets criteria for Medical Staff or Allied Health Professional membership and privileges.
NPDB Self-Query and CAQH Login / Password required at submission / offer.
Demonstrated proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems (EPIC preferred).
Strong ability to work independently and effectively in high-stress or emergency situations.
Must be available full-time and able to participate in call coverage rotations.
