This role will involve interfacing with a wide range of stakeholders, such as Engineers, Managers, Directors, and Product Owners. As such, the ability to communicate technical challenges and explain engineering metrics to non-technical colleagues is essential. A strong and confident communicator is key for this role, and someone who is comfortable with putting forward their own opinions and solutions, since this is a relatively new area for the department- this person will also be hands-on with configuring our metrics platform (LinearB), which integrates with Jira and Bitbucket, so understanding those types of tools will be important.
This is a highly collaborative position, and the candidate will be working directly with the manager. There will be a degree of team training that this position will be responsible for, more along the lines of supporting demos of tools and explaining engineering metrics and how our tools / processes can improve them.
Job Description :
The Business Analyst will require a strong understanding of software delivery performance metrics and developer experience tooling, to join a team that is focused on measuring and improving the developer experience across the IT division. The ideal candidate will understand how software delivery metrics can be used to understand developer experience improvement opportunities, identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement, and be able to communicate these with engineering teams and leadership. This role will also involve conducting analysis on existing applications owned by the team, such as Mulesoft, Amplify, and Backstage, in order to help the team make sound decisions on application enhancements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Implement and maintain software delivery performance metrics using tools like LinearB, Sleuth, or custom dashboards. May complete software demonstrations utilizing our toolkit and explain engineering metrics and how our tools / processes can improve them
Analyze DORA metrics, cycle time, PR throughput, and other engineering KPIs to identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities.
Implement analytics and feedback loops to continuously improve developer experience.
Collaborate with engineering leadership to define success metrics and reporting cadences.
Support the engineering team in building and maintaining intuitive self-service tools for infrastructure provisioning, CI / CD setup, software development, and environment management.
Create and maintain developer documentation and onboarding guides.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience with Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) like Backstage.
Experience with engineering analytics platforms (LinearB, Jellyfish, Haystack).
Familiarity with developer tooling ecosystems (IDEs, Git workflows, CI / CD).
Strong product thinking and empathy for developer workflows.
Ability to measure and improve developer productivity using telemetry and feedback.
Experience in configuring and analyzing SaaS platforms would be beneficial.
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration.
