Trinity Health, Mid-Atlantic, is looking for a Worker's Compensation & Safety Manager to join our Worker's Compensation team!

Employment Type : Full-time

Shift : DaysThe Colleague Safety Specialist provides support in administration of workers' compensation program. Responsible for claims administration and audits, report preparation and compilation of statistics.

Interprets laws and regulations, determines appropriate courses of action and presents solutions to resolve claims. Interfaces with employees, managers, insurance carriers, medical personnel and attorneys.

  • Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
  • Serves as member of Trinity Health Insurance Risk Safety Management team. Atttends TH meetings and conference calls focused on best practices in injury prevention, policy change recommendations, etc.

Acts as the primary point of contact between TH and MHS for all Workers' Comp issues.

Participates in monthly and semi annual Claim Review Meetings to : review status; discovery needs, investigation strategy ;

settlement / resolution opportunities and timeline; Indemnity cost and expense review; Risk analysis and loss prevention discussion.

  • Attends hearings on litigated claims to represent MHS.
  • Attends mandatory and voluntary mediation conferences to represent MHS.
  • Evaluate components of Safety Plan to ensure compliance with Accident & Illness Prevention Program requirements for the PA Bureau of Workers Comp.
  • Develops and produces Monthly Work Injury Reports and shares OU Management and MHS Leadership. Reports include work injury data and trends and interventions.
  • Review Workers' Comp and Safety Policies and Procedures, ensuring alignment with TH policies and industry best practices.
  • Review newly received incident reports and post investigation reports. Identifies any needed changes in loss prevention strategies.

Collaborates with TPA as needed to identify any additional investigation strategies that may be appropriate (e.g. surveillance, alternate income verifications, etc).

Works closely with Colleague Health Coordinator as appropriate.

Review TH prescribed Premium Impact Program / Loss Prevention strategies and coordinate implementation (e.g. Workplace Violence Reduction, Slips, Trips and Falls, Sharps and Safe Patient Movement).

Evaluates injury trends and root causes of all injuries and develops supplemental interevention and / or educational strategies as needed.

Reveiws all Workers' Comp and Safety policies to ensure they are aligned with TH Policies, OSHA and other regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Ensures ongoing adherance to policies and survey readiness at all times.

  • Maintains WC Panel list ensuring it is up to date at all times. Distributes Panel List to all WorkCare locations. Distributes Workers Comp Rights and Responsibilities and Panel List to all colleagues annually.
  • Reviews OSHA logs throughout the year ensuring they are accurate and kept up to date at all times. Produces the annual OSHA Summary and ensures it is posted at each Operating Unit.
  • Meet with WorkCare leadership team to to review and resolve issues regarding claims, policies, procedures and colleaugue concerns.
  • Participates in Annual Self Insurance Renewal Activities (TPA is ESIS)
  • Reports Loss Prevention activities , trending analysis to ZAC (Zero Accident Committee) and EOC Committees at each OU.
  • Support gatekeepers in recordkeeping and claims processing, provides back-up for gatekeeper when needed, report changes to Trinity Health and problem resolution.
  • Adheres to applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Healths Integrity and Compliance Program and Code of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum three (3) years risk, worker's compensation and / or employee safety experience required.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Work in a self-directed, organized manner.
  • Written and verbal communications skills to make effective oral presentations and compose concise reports and routine correspondence.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, courtesy and tact in receiving callers, in giving and obtaining information and making proper dispositions of requests.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point.
