Director - Mass Spectrometry-based Biomarker Discovery - Neuroscience
Join Lilly, a global healthcare leader headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, dedicated to improving life for people worldwide. We are seeking a visionary leader with deep expertise in mass‑spectrometry‑based biomarker discovery and validation to spearhead our neuroscience portfolio.
The successful candidate will develop and validate novel assays for early‑ and late‑phase clinical trials in neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, ALS, and other rare brain disorders. You will mentor junior associates, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and drive assay development from concept through clinical integration.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and validate novel mass‑spectrometry‑based biomarker assays for preclinical and clinical studies.
- Mentor junior scientists to execute in‑vitro experiments supporting therapeutic molecule characterization.
- Plan and oversee method development, optimization, and sample analyses with internal and external partners.
- Implement rigorous assay validation procedures for high‑performance biomarker assays.
- Serve as the scientific and technical expert for in‑house and outsourced biomarker discovery efforts.
- Collaborate with medical, operations, statistics, regulatory, CROs, and academic partners to integrate biomarker validation into clinical programs.
- Communicate findings through presentations, publications, and strategic discussions.
Basic Qualifications
Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Biochemistry, or a related field.5+ years of industry, academic, or post‑doctoral experience in biomarker development with recognized expertise in mass‑spectrometry‑based assays for brain diseases.Additional Skills / Preferences
Deep understanding of mass‑spectrometry technology and instrumentation for biomarker applications.Proficiency executing advanced mass‑spectrometry‑based studies independently.Proven leadership in managing and mentoring biomarker research teams.Strategic thinking, problem‑solving, and drive for innovation in biomarker discovery.Excellent communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills.Ability to translate scientific insights into impactful clinical applications.Compensation : $184,500 – $321,200 (annual base).
