Summary
Reporting directly to the Revenue Cycle Manager the Medical Billing Associate, Family Billing and Collections supports the overall mission of The Warren Center by effectively providing accurate medical benefits verification from all government and private medical payors to our clients and having discussions regarding the clients' portion of the medical cost.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily.
Client Financial Information
- Create and maintain financial files for all clients, which includes documentation of medical billing insurance data after claims have adjudicated
- Answer incoming billing, claims, account balance and status calls
- Explain billing processes, payment policies, and financial assistance programs to clients
- Answers client inquiries regarding accounts, balances, and payments
- Enter and maintain accurate account / financial information in patient accounting system, including family income, Family Cost Share information, clinical billing information and all 3rd party payer resources
- Verify insurance eligibility and / or coverage of all insurance payors while communicating all patient responsibility with clients
- Act as a liaison between clients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies
- Act as a claims and appeal liaison on behalf of the organization with health plans
Reception Practices (backup)
Post electronic remittance advice (ERA) and payer responses within 24 hours of receiptProcess electronic remittance advice (ERA) and explanation of benefits (EOB) responses, claims, resolve claims for payment, resolution, and appeal finalizationFile medical claims daily, weekly or monthly as requiredEnsure that all internal and external customers are treated with respect, provide knowledgeable answers, and a welcoming attitudeFollow-up on staff and family service cancellationsIntra-office communication regarding account data and claimsAnd other responsibilities and duties as neededEducation and Experience
High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma3–5 experience in medical billing and or revenue cycle managementExperience with ProviderSoft and / or Raintree medical software preferred (Preferred)Additional Technical Skills, Traits and Knowledge
