Job description

Safety Director Infrastructure Project (Contract-to-Hire)

Location : New York City, NY

Pay Rate : $55$60 / hour

Placement Type : Contract to Hire (6 months)

Position Overview

We are actively seeking a highly experienced Safety Director to lead safety operations for a major infrastructure project in New York City. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in MEP systems and public transportation environments, who thrives in high-impact, fast-paced settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and enforce site-specific safety programs in compliance with OSHA and local regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide safety training and guidance to field teams and subcontractors.
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation and reporting.
  • Collaborate with project leadership to ensure safety is prioritized across all phases.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of safety leadership experience in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) environments.
  • Prior experience in rail, train station, or airport operations.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA, NYC DOB, and other regulatory standards.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Safety certifications such as CHST, CSP, or OSHA 30 / 500.
  • Experience working with union labor and public sector projects.

    • The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00 / hr.
