Forklift Operator And Material Handler
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled forklift operator to join our specialty hardwood lumber mill / warehouse team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in efficiently loading delivery trucks with our high-quality specialty lumber during the overnight shift. Your primary responsibility will be operating forklifts to load the trucks accurately and securely, ensuring that the drivers are well-prepared to complete their deliveries promptly. This position requires attention to detail, a strong focus on safety, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities :
- Safely operate forklifts to move, stack, and load lumber onto delivery trucks according to loading guidelines and safety protocols.
- Prioritize loading activities to meet delivery schedules and ensure that all trucks are loaded efficiently, maximizing space utilization while maintaining product integrity.
- Verify the accuracy of delivery orders and ensure that the correct lumber products are loaded onto each truck, cross-referencing against shipping documents.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures while operating forklifts and performing loading tasks, maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
- Maintain effective communication with the warehouse team, drivers, and supervisors to coordinate loading schedules, resolve any issues, and ensure smooth operations.
- Assist in monitoring inventory levels, reporting discrepancies, and participating in periodic stock counts as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the loading area, ensuring that lumber stacks are well-arranged and that the workspace is free from debris or potential hazards.
Essential Skills :
Proven experience operating forklifts.Capable of lifting heavy objects, working in a physically demanding environment, and standing for extended periods during the shift.Ability to accurately identify lumber products, read shipping documents, and load trucks with precision to prevent errors and delays.A strong commitment to safety protocols and a track record of adhering to safety guidelines while operating equipment and performing duties.Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively to meet delivery schedules.A cooperative attitude and the ability to work well within a team environment to achieve common goals.Consistent attendance and punctuality, understanding the importance of the overnight shift schedule.Additional Skills & Qualifications :

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sherwood, Oregon.
Pay and Benefits :
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
