License : Required active RN license.

Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.

Must-Have : Strong clinical experience preferred.

Description :

Registered Nurse - MedSurg / Tele.

Facility operates with a total of 33 beds.

No trauma designation.

Not a teaching hospital.

No chest pain center designation.

Not currently stroke accredited.

Unit has 20 beds.

Patient types and common diagnoses include adult Med / Tele patients, COPD, CHF, cardiac arrhythmia management, uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, respiratory illnesses, gastrointestinal infections, and behavioral health issues.

Patient ratios are RN : Telemetry 1 : 4-5 and MedSurg 1 : 5-6, depending on acuity.

Surge staffing could increase ratios up to 1 : 7-8.

CNA to RN ratio is 1 : 10.

Skills required include tracheostomy care, chest tube management, peripheral IV starts, wound care, feeding tubes, and NGT placement and management.

Common medications administered include Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin, Lasix, and Octreotide.

CNA support includes vital signs, blood glucose checks, two-hour rounding, feeding, and activities of daily living support.

There is a charge nurse available for support.

Phlebotomy services are not available on-site.

IV and VAT teams operate only during the daytime.

Respiratory therapy is available 24 / 7.

Hospitalists are available 24 / 7.

Telemetry monitoring is remote.

EMR system in use is Epic.

IV pumps and medication dispensing systems used include Alaris and Omnicell.

Unit-specific equipment includes telemetry monitors, bladder scanners, and a virtual cart for rounding with medical staff.

Floating is required within the region and scope of practice.

The traveler may be required to float to different facilities within the region as needed.

Scheduling requires a weekend rotation every other weekend.

There is no on-call duty.

Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays.

Requests for time off can be approved for up to 6 days, excluding holidays.

Additional time may be added to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours.

The schedule cycle is every 6 weeks.

Scrub color required is navy.
