Title : Engineer Associate

Position Concept : This entry level engineer position works under close supervision; receives specific and detailed instructions as to required tasks and results expected; performs a variety of routine tasks which provide experience and familiarity with the engineering staff, methods, practices, procedures and programs of the company. Emphasis is on technical support and project leadership for forced, planned and unplanned unit outages and equipment maintenance in an effort to complete capital and O&M projects on schedule and within budget, to maximize plant performance and to minimize maintenance cost.
Responsibilities
- Provide project engineering support on assigned projects and technical support to the Engineering & Project Management team as required.
- Assist in monitoring ongoing work activities to confirm manufacturer / fabricator compliance with project plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in coordination of work with E&PM Construction, plant outage coordinators, station planners and on-site and off-site contractors.
- Assist in coordination of Tampa Electric comments to consulting engineer and supplier documents.
- Assist E&PM engineering and construction personnel in developing Scope of Works, project schedules, and cost estimates.
- Schedule and facilitate project team meetings / conference calls to maintain project schedules and costs.
- Support Energy Supply power plants in identifying and solving O&M problems; augment plant staff as needed to meet day-to-day and outage requirements.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Lead Mechanical Engineer.
Education
Required : BS in electrical engineering from an accredited college.Preferred : Core competency in power systems, electrical distribution, and power generation.Licenses / Certifications
Required : N / APreferred : FE or ability to obtain FE within 1 year of employment.Experience
Required : NonePreferred : Co-Op experience (power generation, piping design and support system); knowledge of mechanical equipment (valves, seals, pumps); experience in the electric utility industry.Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Required : Proficient with Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint; ability to collaborate and contribute to team; demonstrated teamwork and presentation skills; adaptable to assignments and schedules; high ownership and accountability.Preferred : Working knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer principles and project management.Competencies

Travel from home office to TEC's Big Bend, Bayside and Polk Power Stations expected and could be frequent.Working outdoors in hot, humid, wet and / or cold conditions 25% to 50% of the work day.Working in a Power Generation facility 25% to 50% of the work day.Areas of elevated noise (hearing protection required) and confined spaces may be present.Working overtime and / or weekends possible.Physical Demands
