This requisition is for a Quality Engineer, for the shipyard programs, including LCS and MMSC. As part of an onsite team responsible for managing multiple hull construction at a Tier 2 shipyard with an emphasis on program partner / subcontractor activities, the candidate will directly report to the SCSS Quality Engineering Manager.
The position will work with the Shipyard Quality team (Product, Engineering, and Supplier Quality). Must be flexible and adaptable to ensure program commitments are met on time in a dynamic work environment.
This role will require coordination with all team members across multiple locations.
Quality oversight of all aspects of ship construction including heavy steel fabrication, testing & Integration, subsystem installation, ships propulsion, power, heating & cooling, control, finishes etc.
Material specification knowledge and process familiarity with welding, plumbing, electrical, large-scale dimensional inspection, nondestructive test techniques, mechanical and electrical testing are prerequisite for this position.
Work with Shipyard Quality Team in assisting the QM in implementation and execution of the quality management system as defined in the Quality Assurance Plan (QAP) on their assigned program(s).

Excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills to team with internal / external customers and program stakeholders.
Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and support product, supplier, and quality activities on program.
Experience with SUPSHIP Bath Maine Shipyard construction experience.
Have a sound understanding of processes for management of products, technical requirements, change management process, risks, and schedule.
Experience in process improvement methodologies such as Lean and / or Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt) for the purpose of reducing waste and variation and root cause analysis.
Experience in Root Cause Analysis.
Knowledge of DOD contract requirements and / or American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Naval Vessel Rules and High-Speed Naval Craft Rules.
Experience with interfacing and surveillance activities at suppliers.
Demonstrated track record of working with multiple customers and forming strong internal and external customer relationships.
Must have the ability to review manufacturing process travelers to ensure processes are appropriate and apply proper inspection / acceptance criteria.
Understanding of productions processes such as soldering, mechanical assembly, welding, painting, integration, and test, etc.
Paint Inspection Certification (NACE, NBPI, ...).
