About the Role
We are seeking a Vehicle Test Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team in Nappanee, IN. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in vehicle testing, system integration, HVAC systems, and hydraulic components . This role involves validating vehicle performance through structured testing, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving continuous improvements in vehicle design and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and document vehicle-level and subsystem testing (performance, durability, and reliability).
- Perform vehicle integration testing to ensure all systems (electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic) operate seamlessly.
- Conduct HVAC system testing including thermal performance, airflow, and component validation.
- Evaluate and troubleshoot hydraulic systems (pumps, valves, actuators) to ensure optimal operation.
- Collaborate with design, electrical, and manufacturing teams to support integration and validation activities.
- Develop test plans, procedures, and reports in alignment with engineering requirements and project timelines.
- Analyze test data, identify root causes, and recommend design or process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with internal and industry safety and performance standards.
- Support prototype builds, instrumentation setup, and vehicle commissioning as needed.
- Participate in test reviews, design reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field .3–6 years of experience in vehicle testing, validation, or integration engineering .Hands-on experience with HVAC systems and hydraulic circuits in vehicles or heavy equipment.Proficiency in data acquisition systems, instrumentation, and test equipment .Strong understanding of vehicle subsystems including powertrain, chassis, and controls.Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.Ability to work on-site and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.Preferred Qualifications
Experience with prototype or low-volume vehicle builds .Knowledge of CAN-based diagnostics tools (Vector, CANalyzer, etc.) .Familiarity with thermal and fluid simulation tools (e.g., AMESim, MATLAB, or Simulink).Exposure to off-highway, commercial vehicle, or recreational vehicle (RV) systems .What We Offer
