Responsibilities Work in a hospital setting as part of the Critical Care Float Pool Float to ICU and step-down level units, including ED and PACU admit hold areas Night shifts, 3x12 hours from 19 : 00 to 07 : 00 Level 1 trauma center environment Must float among units within the critical care division Uses Epic EMR system; experience required Manage patients with complex diagnoses including CVA, post-cardiac surgery, post-neurosurgery, renal failure, and spinal cord injury Team includes float pool nurses covering critical care and step-down units All float pool nurses must obtain a CPI Blue Card from the Crisis Prevention Institute before starting Completion of required pre-start training modules (average 4-8 hours, self-reported) No blocked or self-scheduling options available Holiday coverage may be required per hospital policy Locals are accepted at the same rate with no radius restrictions Return staff must have been gone a minimum of one year to be eligible RTO requests must be submitted upfront; no RTO permitted in first 2 weeks, and up to 7 days per 13-week contract is preferred Requirements Active and valid CA RN license required and must be in hand at time of application Current ACLS and BLS certifications required At least 2 years of recent critical care experience required Experience and proficiency in Epic charting required Proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multisystem organ failure, 12-lead EKG / ECG, central line and arterial line management, IV protocols, and advanced neuro / cardiac care Pass a mandatory EKG exam (up to 3 attempts allowed) Two supervisor references from the past two years required First-time travelers are welcome Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-639528.
