Impact Director
The Impact Director (ID) is responsible for the overall management of the day-to-day programmatic operations, ensuring the achievement of City Year's mission and overall service excellence through the successful implementation of the Whole School Whole Child service model by managing and developing Impact Managers and corps members to build and cultivate strong school partnerships and developing a group of committed, idealistic leaders and school practitioners; the successful completion of transformational physical service days and volunteer engagement; and ensuring an impactful and inspirational corps experience as well as corps member development. Impact Directors supervise Impact Managers, oversee the members in their program, ensure a strong service impact, create opportunities for engaging outside volunteers / visitors, foster opportunities for member development and support the overall efforts of City Year's mission statement.
Responsibilities :
Management of the Impact Department :
While day to day and school specific interactions with school partners will be owned by the Impact Managers, the ID will manage these staff members to make sure the message and implementation of service are aligned. This includes holding weekly 1 : 1's, coaching sessions, and developing initiatives to improve the overall service model.
The ID will work with the Executive Director to develop and maintain the Impact Department budget. He / she will manage expenses for AmeriCorps Experience and school service needs. Additionally, the ID will collaborate with the Director of Development to ensure the criteria for site grants are being met.
Developing and Maintaining Strong District Relationships :
The ID manages overall aspects of the district partnerships and will collaborate with the Executive Director to develop district strategies. Primary responsibilities include ensuring a high level of quality, and measurable impact with students off-track from high school graduation. The ID works with site leadership and school districts to identify and communicate City Year Memphis' long-term impact strategy in order to achieve long-term impact goals. This includes determining potential new schools, developing education partnerships, and building sustainable district relationships. The ID is responsible for routine communication with key stakeholders in the district.
The ID will be responsible for understanding the current education environment of the school districts we serve. He / she will lead on understanding and presenting the organization to district staff. The ID will also be responsible for building and maintaining key relationships with decision-makers, support staff and others who advance City Year's efforts.
The ID will work closely with the local district point persons to make sure all goals are being met, and local district staff members feel informed and invested in the partnership. Additionally, the ID will identify and engage staff within the districts to educate them about City Year Memphis' service and ways to support it. This will be accomplished by attending external meetings, joining community groups or work groups, and tracking media on education topics. The ID will communicate findings to the site's leadership team to inform them of new developments that may affect our education vision and service.
Service Product Development / Content Management :
The ID will lead the development and execution of the site's Whole School Whole Child strategy for product development and content management implementation, review, and evaluation. The ID is responsible for setting the vision and strategy of AmeriCorps Member observations and will collaborate with the Impact Team to ensure AmeriCorps Members are properly implementing the WSWC model. The ID will also obtain feedback from corps members, staff members and school partners, review best practices from City Year and education experts, and review City Year data. In addition, the ID will target areas of strength and improvement to promote to colleagues or to address through additional training and resources.
Developing and Maintaining Evaluation Compliance Workstreams :
This role manages the integration of City Year's core systems (Salesforce, Workday, SharePoint) to ensure accurate data flow and compliance with FERPA. Responsibilities include implementing tracking systems, training and coaching AmeriCorps members on data practices, and creating visualizations to monitor program impact. The position also serves as a liaison with district partners and City Year Headquarters to support data-sharing automation, while acting as Corps Site Analyst for onboarding, background checks, and exit protocols.
Positive AmeriCorps Member Experience :
The ID will work with the Impact Department and the entire staff to ensure all AmeriCorps members have a positive year of service. This will involve communicating needs to the Advisory Board, planning and implementing celebrations days for the AmeriCorps Members, and working with Impact Managers to facilitate conversations with corps.
Learning and Development Strategy and Facilitation :
The ID will develop and implement a holistic 10-month learning and development strategy for the City Year Memphis corps including returning corps members, ensuring content and delivery is aligned with the corps member service implementation calendar and leadership development cycle. While the Impact Director will not facilitate all sessions, they will own the assignment of facilitators within the Learning and Development scope and sequence. The ID will plan a successful Basic Training Academy, mid-year summit training and other large-scale training days.
Participation as Member of the City Year National Network :
The ID is expected to be an active member of the City Year national network by participating in conference calls / meetings, responding to emails, and completing other tasks as necessary. The ID may also be asked to lead on select network initiatives.

Compensation :
The anticipated start is September 2025. Salary range for this position is $65,000-$75,000.
