We are looking for a Director of Game Services that is an industry expert on managing a premiere live service game utilizing technologies and strategies that focus on the player experience and satisfaction. This role has an operational focus with a deep business reach that affects the outcomes of the Apex Legends franchise at Respawn Entertainment. This individual will apply their years of engineering and live service experience to design, document, and deliver tools, systems, and services while reporting to the Head of Online Services.
What you will do
- Lead your team through strategic planning, people development, and live services development and delivery milestones
- Work collaboratively as a technical liaison for the Head of Online Services on all major projects within your technical domain
- Become a trusted and effective member of the senior engineering leadership team of Online Services
- Write and review code across various domains and service tiers of critical importance to achieving the studio's strategic goals
- Design, review, build, deploy, and operate the technical live services that our players rely upon daily
- Collaborate with engineers and staff from various departments demonstrating your competency, capabilities, focus, and sense of ownership for key projects
- Principally or support the writing of technical design documents, run books, standard operating procedures, and other forms of documentation that enrich our engineering culture
- Understand and demonstrate knowledge of business critical production cloud architecture as expressed through presentations, diagrams, and documentation
- 10 years of demonstrable software engineering experience

Experience building and operating multi-tiered customer facing applications and servicesExperience with Technical Operations and 24x7 supportOKRs and KPIs and applying them as a measurement of strategic progressDeep understanding of processes and practices that improve the player and developer experience through automationExcellent grasp of business English in both oral and written formsExcellent grasp of modern security concepts and their application in code and systems designAbility to generate flowchart, sequence, and C4 diagramsPolyglot programming with ability to reason about languages, protocols, and patterns for quality and time to deliveryAbility to understand and educate the architecture of business critical production cloud systems and resolve issues quicklyExperience with modern source code management systems (Perforce, Git, etc)Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experienceOther qualities we look for

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).
British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) $165,900 - $238,100 CADCalifornia (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. San Francisco) $186,900 - $289,700 USDIn the US, we offer a package of benefits including paid time off, sick time, holidays, parental leave, insurance, and 401(k). Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
