Job Description :
The Engineer II, Process Improvement will drive the adoption of lean principles throughout NextGen Healthcare's R&D organization, transforming how we develop, deliver, and support our healthcare platforms. You'll champion continuous improvement, turning operational excellence into product capabilities that give providers more time to care for patients.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with product, engineering, implementation, and leadership teams to identify and support improvement opportunities.
- Support and drive outcomes from kaizen events, process flow mapping, and value stream analysis workshops.
- Build strong relationships across all organizational levels to promote lean thinking.
- Provide peer support and share lean best practices across teams.
Process Improvement & Innovation
Analyze workflows to identify inefficiencies and eliminate waste.Recommend and implement lean solutions that improve speed, quality, and customer value.Contribute to the development of scalable, standardized work processes.Translate operational improvements into actionable product and service enhancements.Strategic Support
Assist Black Belt and leadership teams in enterprise-wide transformation initiatives as a support contributor.Support the development of dashboards and metrics to track improvement.Ensure process improvements align with customer needs and business outcomes.Support the evolution of a continuous improvement culture and methodology.Project Execution
Independently lead small-sized improvement projects.Serve as a key contributor on larger initiatives.Document and share best practices to promote sustainable change.Use data-driven methods to validate improvements and demonstrate ROI.Perform other duties that support the overall objective of the position.
Education Required :
Bachelor's degree required (preferably in Business Administration, Business, Engineering or Computer Science)Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required qualifications for the position.Experience Required :
3 - 6 years of experience applying lean principles in a software or technology environment.Proven track record of delivering measurable process improvements.Experience working with cross-functional teams, including technical and non-technical stakeholders.Preferred :
Experience in B2B SaaS or enterprise software.Background in healthcare or health IT.Exposure to product management, software development, or technical operations.License / Certification Required :
Active Lean Six Sigma Yellow and Green Belt certification (or in progress) from ASQ, IASSC, CSSC, or equivalent.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Knowledge of : Proficient in lean tools and methodologies (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, PDCA, Value Stream Mapping). Familiarity with Agile and software development lifecycle. Familiarity with DevOps, CI / CD, or modern delivery practices preferred. Knowledge of complementary methodologies (Agile, Design Thinking, Theory of Constraints) preferred.Skill in : Skilled in data analysis and visualization to support decision-making. Strong communication and facilitation skills across all organizational levels. Persistent and patient change agent with a problem-solving mindset.Ability to : Ability to adapt lean concepts to software and service delivery contexts. Ability to influence without direct authority.
