This position is funded by a grant for a duration of time as defined by the grantor. This position works under the supervision of the Administrative Technician and provides clerical support to the Shelby Country Women, Infant, and Children program (WIC), and other programs as required.
Pay Grade: 41
Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education
Minimum Qualifications
100% -
1. Two (2) years of experience in appropriate clerical, bookkeeping, data processing, or statistical work; AND
2. High school diploma or possess a GED; OR
3. One (1) year of appropriate clerical, bookkeeping, data processing, or statistical work; and one (1) year of college study (30 semester hours or 36 quarters) from an accredited college or university.
4. Must be bilingual with the ability to speak and write fluently in English and Spanish.
5. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Screens and registers participants for WIC and other services at a public health clinic.
2. Schedules appointments for WIC and other services provided at a public health clinic.
3. Maintains medical records including filing, purging and transferring participant’s charts to other clinic locations.
4. Explains the food packages and voucher issuance to eligible participants.
5. Attends quarterly training in-service.
6. Answers the phones at a public health clinic.
7. Checks and screens patient immunization records to make sure that all children have been immunized as required.
8. Re-certifies participants according to the guidelines of the program.
9. Performs other duties as required or directed.

Special Requirements
1. Must possess a valid Tennessee driver license or secure one by date of employment.
2. Must have access to an operable automobile and meet County requirements for automobile insurance upon date of employment.
3. Must be able to work at multiple locations on an as needed basis.
4. Must be bilingual with the ability to speak and write fluently in English and Spanish.
