Job Purpose :
The Assistant Director of AmeriCorps provides support for AmeriCorps members and Stability Specialists, helping to cultivate an overall positive service experience for AmeriCorps members to optimize retention. The position shares responsibility for overseeing the overall operations of Maggie's Place maternity homes and ensuring AmeriCorps programmatic grant compliance. It participates in recruitment and onboarding for yearlong and summer AmeriCorps members, serves as a point of contact for current members during their service, assists with member training, support, and programming throughout the service year, and assists in grant data collection and reporting. It ideally shares first-hand experience in immersive service.
Responsibilities : AmeriCorps Program
- Conduct check-in meetings and provide supplemental support to Stability Specialists and members to ensure well-functioning teams.
- Provide guidance for position-related work and overall house operations, facilitating smooth communication across departments and systems management.
- In collaboration with supervisors, ensure AmeriCorps member adherence to all Maggie's Place policies and expectations.
- Approve AmeriCorps timesheets and ensure timely completion of member hours.
- Ensure member files are up to date and compliant.
- Assist in planning and implementing components of the AmeriCorps program design, including semi-annual retreats, New Corps Training, and ongoing weekly trainings.
- In the absence of Team Leader(s), serve in an adjusted AmeriCorps Team Leader capacity.
- Coordinate planning and implementation of AmeriCorps National Day of Service projects and site partnership events.
- Assist with member transition planning and support.
- Coordinate living and day-off arrangements at The Palma House. Coordinate cleaning, guests, policies and norms and provide accountability to maintaining the space.
- Attend / assist with candlelight's of year-long members.
- Spend time working from homes to ensure quality programming.
- Manage budget and submit timely financial reports.
- Special projects & other duties as assigned
Recruitment
Share recruitment travel responsibilities as needed, prioritizing local recruitment within Arizona and the western region.Work in collaboration with the AmeriCorps Recruitment and Marketing Manager to filter applications, conduct interviews, coordinate discernment calls, and make recommendations to the Director of AmeriCorps for acceptances and rejections .Contribute content, ideas, and support for recruitment marketing needs including @servewithmp Instagram.Assist as needed in coordinating current members' recruitment at alma maters.Coordinate in-person discernment visits and assist with pipeline college service trips.Grant Data Collection & Reporting
Coordinate data collection for AmeriCorps grant reports; assist with reporting and program metrics.Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree or comparable life experience.Field experience in direct service work at Maggie's Place or a similar program.Effective and professional communication through written and verbal means.Effective time management and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with moderate to frequent interruptions.Demonstrates initiative, adaptability, cultural sensitivity, and emotional maturity.Ability to maintain composure, critical thinking, and a solution-based mindset in stressful situations.Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office and Teams, ability to access computers and phone every day).Ability to travel is a moderate amount.Ability to articulate the Maggie's Place AmeriCorps experience with passion and authenticity in virtual settings, in person, and over the phone / email.Some experience with social media platforms preferred.Perform a variety of physical tasks, including being able to lift and carry 30 lbs.Ability to maintain a valid driver's license and operate a vehicle.Additional Requirements :
Must possess or have regular access to a reliable vehicle on a regular basis.Must possess a valid Arizona driver license and active auto insurance.Must be able to comply and meet the national and state criminal background check, national sex offender registry, and a Motor Vehicle Records check as required by Maggie's Place.The ability to lift 30 lbs. is required.Work Environment
