Medical Billing Clerk Remote
We need an effective medical billing clerk todraft invoices and monitor patient accounts. In this capacity youwill communicate with patients who have outstanding balances whichmay include engaging with collection agencies.
You will also speakwith medical aid companies and receive authorization to pay formedical procedures.
To succeed as a medicalbilling clerk you must regularly monitor patient accounts and makearrangements with the appropriate medical aid to guarantee thatpayments are settled on time.
A professional medical billing clerkunderstands insurance policies and processes and can answer patientquestions quietly andpromptly.
Medical Billing ClerkResponsibilities :
Managingpatient accounts and creating bills.
Using computersoftware to enter patient information and keep records up todate.
Ensuring that patients receive theiraccounts.
Administrative activities include answeringphone calls and replying to emails.
Acquiring andrecording medical aid information from patients as well asnegotiating with the medical aid business to gain authorization forpayments owed.
Following up with patients on late accountsas well as those that are significantly past due.
Followwork procedures meticulously while adhering to hospital or clinicrules and regulations as well as state and federallegislation.
Improving employment knowledge and abilitiesby networking and maintaining current on medical care rates toensure accurate invoicing.
MedicalBilling Clerk Requirements :
A highschool diploma or GED.
A minimum of two years ofadministrative experience in a medical or healthcarecontext.
An associates degree in accounting business oreconomics might be recommended.
Basic mathskills.
Excellent communication skills for dealing withmedical insurance companies and explaining financial issues topatients and staff.
Aboveaverage organizing skills toquickly locate paperwork or patient information.
Attentionto detail is required to effectively keep patient records andensure that accounts are entered correctly.
The capacityto accept cash and credit card payments.
Proficiency inentering account data to generate statements forpatients.
