The Social Work department helps patients, families and caregivers cope with cancer and eliminate psychosocial barriers to care through integrated programs in patient care, research, education and prevention.

Ideal candidate : Master\'s Degree in Social Work (MSW or MSSW) from an accredited program approved by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and an LMSW or LCSW issued by the state of Texas.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment and counseling services to individuals, families and groups.
• Support compliance with treatment protocols, advance care planning and assist with resource linkage as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Conduct biopsychosocial assessments using appropriate diagnostic criteria to develop and implement interventions for a comprehensive treatment plan.
• Utilize counseling techniques and resource knowledge throughout the disease trajectory, including end of life, survivorship and bereavement.
• Participate in continuity of care and / or discharge planning and facilitate advance care planning.
• Document patient care activity in the institutional electronic health record in accordance with departmental policy.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure and may require routine reviews and screening. The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements is a condition of hire and continued employment.
