The Keck School of Medicine (KSOM) of the University of Southern California (USC) and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) in the Department of Surgery in the Division of Pediatric Surgery are actively seeking a full-time faculty member for the position of Assistant Professor of Research Surgery.

A fully funded Research Assistant Professor position in the Gayer lab is available immediately to study the role of bile acid signaling in intestinal inflammation.

The Gayer lab studies the molecular mechanisms that control inflammation and recovery of the gastrointestinal tract at The Saban Research Institute, Children's Hospital Los Angeles, Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California.

This position is open to applicants who wish to focus on FXR’s role in intestinal epithelial inflammation seen in diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease and gut origin sepsis.

A strong background in biochemical and molecular techniques is essential. Ideal candidates will be interested in mechanisms of cell signaling, intestinal stem cell functions, and the tools to evaluate in vivo models of intestinal injury and recovery.

Candidates must have a recent Ph.D. and / or M.D. degree and a desire to partner in the lab of a surgeon-scientist. CHLA is a dynamic and collaborative research environment, and the Gayer lab has well established opportunities for collaboration both locally and nationally.
