Position Summary
The Director of Regulatory Compliance is responsible for leading the companys food safety and quality assurance programs in alignment with Safety Quality Food (SQF) standards and other applicable regulatory requirements. This role oversees the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies, procedures, and training that ensure compliance with SQF certification, regulatory standards (FDA, USDA, FSMA), and customer expectations. The Director of SQF serves as the primary liaison with certification bodies, regulatory agencies, and customers regarding food safety and quality matters, while driving a culture of continuous improvement across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and maintain the companys SQF Certification Program, ensuring compliance with all SQF Code requirements.
- Oversee all food safety and quality systems, including HACCP, GMPs, allergen control, traceability, sanitation, and recall programs.
- Serve as the Companys SQF Practitioner (or oversee designated practitioners) and act as the primary point of contact for audits, inspections, and certification processes.
- Develop and implement food safety policies, procedures, and training programs to build a strong food safety culture across all departments.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies (FDA, USDA, state / local authorities) and customer requirements.
- Lead internal audit programs and facilitate third-party, customer, and regulatory audits, ensuring corrective actions are completed on time.
- Manage document control systems, recordkeeping and reporting related to SQF, HACCP, and other quality standards.
- Partner with Operations and Production to proactively identify risks and drive continuous improvement in product safety, quality, and consistency.
- Direct root cause analysis and corrective / preventive action (CAPA) initiatives related to non-conformances and customer complaints.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to the Food Safety & Quality Assurance team, ensuring strong succession planning and employee development.
- Mentor industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in food safety to ensure the organization remains compliant and competitive

Qualifications
Education & Experience :
Bachelors degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Quality Assurance, or a related field (masters preferred).Minimum 7-10 years of progressive experience in food safety and quality assurance within a food manufacturing environment.Proven experience leading SQF certification programs and serving as an SQF Practitioner or equivalent.In-depth knowledge of SQF Code, HACCP, GMPs, and other relevant regulatory standards.Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams.Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.Ability to lead and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Professional certifications (HACCP, SQF Practitioner)x` required.Pandologic.
