Mechanical Power Conversion has an exciting opportunity for a driven and ambitious leader.
Mechanical Power Conversion (MPC) is growing due to high customer demand and needs a Sustaining Project Engineer. In this position the qualified individual will have the opportunity to lead cross-functional teams in engineering, operations, quality, purchasing, etc.
to support production programs across a variety of pump technologies. As part of the project engineer role a successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining engineering support to the production organization to ensure deliveries and commitments are met.
The successful candidate will manage internal and external customer relationships while maintaining constant communication to the sustaining team and management.
Additionally, the role requires a strong understanding of mechanical pump operating principles. Furthermore, this role will have the opportunity to make a direct impact on the financial success of our site.

The work associated with this position will be performed onsite in our Rockford, IL facility. This position is eligible for relocation.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Confidently provide clear, concise communications with peers and Collins leadership.
- Lead Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) efforts to identify causes and mitigation plans for issues affecting pump program productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction.
- Provide customer support for high visibility Field Failure investigations.
- Pursue cost saving opportunities to maximize project profitability.
- Provide technical support for piece part supplier change verification.
- Consolidate and present plans and progress reports relating to business aspects of the project.
- Liaise between project management and planning, project teams, and production line management as necessary to support plant output.
- Lead and support less experienced engineers within the team.
- Support Quality investigations as necessary when piece-part issues affect product deliveries.
- Understand, optimize, improve and execute test procedures.
- Analyze, interpret, and report out test results.
- Verify internal processes are being executed to reduce probability of engineering setbacks.
- Read and interpret drawings, provide mark ups, and coordinate drawing releases.
- Develop disposition and substantiation for stocked and delivered hardware
Qualifications / Experience Needed :
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws / regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program / contract.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams towards achieving technical goals and milestones.
- Project management experience, including tracking of schedule and budget / EVMS.
- Experience leading and teaching less experienced engineers.
- Mechanical aptitude and experience with mechanical hardware
- Experience working with cross functional teams across department and business units.
