Seeking an INTERNAL AUDITOR
General Summary : The Internal Auditor ensures the integrity and accountability of tribal gaming operations by conducting independent and objective audits that assess compliance, financial accuracy, and operational efficiency. Audit performance shall be in accordance with Federal regulations, the Tribal Gaming Ordinance, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The auditor will analyze data, assess internal controls, and report findings to management to strengthen transparency and compliance.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities :
- Prepare detailed audit work papers in accordance with departmental procedures and professional auditing standards.
- Conduct financial, compliance, and operational audits to assess efficiency and effectiveness of internal controls.
- Provide recommendations to address audit results and to strengthen minimum internal control standards and policies and procedures.
- Perform IT audits to ensure system reliability, data integrity, and secure access controls.
- Travel to gaming sites and collaborate with facility management during audits.
- Review promotional event rules to verify integrity and compliance with NIGC standards.
- Prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive audit reports summarizing findings and recommendations.
- Examine and analyze accounting records to determine financial status of the gaming facilities and prepare reports concerning procedures.
- Review internal controls to determine compliance and proper safeguarding of assets.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with operations staff, management, and tribal employees.
- Identify improper accounting, fraud, or negligence and report incidents of non-compliance.
- Support the completion of the risk assessment and annual audit plan.
- Attend training or conferences related to gaming, auditing, or regulatory compliance.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Must be able to work irregular hours at remote gaming facilities as needed.
- Must maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
- Must travel and participate in recommended training to meet departmental goals and objectives.
- Must have dependable transportation and insurance.
- Must possess a valid state driver's license.
- Must be computer literate and demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills.
Minimum Requirements :
Two (2) years of experience in the gaming field required.Understanding of complex regulations including the NIGC MICS, Tribal Gaming Ordinance, state compact, and internal controls.Must be able to communicate effectively through report writing.Must have a valid Oklahoma driver’s license.Must be able to pass a background check. Must be able to obtain Muscogee (Creek) Nation Gaming License.Preferred Requirements :
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with two (2) years of verifiable employment experience in gaming or auditing.
