Overview
Health First Medical Group is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist - Radiology. This role focuses on No Harm / Quality, Customer Experience, and Stewardship, aligned with Health First I CARE Values : Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence. The technologist contributes to a positive and productive work environment, produces quality images, follows HF, hospital and departmental protocols, and mentors co-workers and students within a team concept.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe environment for patients, customers, team members, and yourself.
- Ensure the correct procedure is performed on the correct patient by verifying two forms of patient identification on every patient, every time.
- Perform the time-out process prior to starting any invasive procedure.
- Adhere to ALARA principles of radiation safety.
- Be knowledgeable about the location and use of emergency equipment and supplies.
- Be familiar with the Health First Emergency Kardex and associated responsibilities for emergent codes.
- Be responsible for hurricane preparedness and your duties as a Health First associate.
- Follow Infection Control policies and procedures; practice aseptic and sterile techniques.
- Effectively document and communicate pertinent information.
- Report malfunctioning equipment to the appropriate department, colleagues, and management in a timely manner.
- Accurately complete all required documentation / forms (eg, patient history, pregnancy, IV contrast, procedural consent, MAR, safety portal, medication reconciliation, PACS).
- Review exam orders from medical charts and / or prescriptions prior to performing an exam.
- Obtain pertinent patient history from requisition, the patient, the medical chart or other sources.
- Perform procedure protocols and produce images that meet image quality standards while following all Federal, State, and Regional healthcare regulations and Joint Commission / ACR standards.
- Position patients properly and use appropriate technique.
- Ensure exam rooms are clean, neat, stocked, and disinfected; equipment is clean, disinfected, and ready for the next patient encounter.
- Follow proper image retrieval and file processes.
- Participate in quality initiatives and suggest departmental improvements to protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Accept additional responsibilities to help reach departmental goals / initiatives.
- Attend staff meetings or in-services as required and read and sign off on minutes as required.
- Properly identify, prepare and / or administer medications within the technologists scope of practice as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.
- Perform radiation safety tasks within required time limits and in accordance with BRC guidelines.
- Complete computer processing for Nuclear Medicine diagnostic imaging procedures.
- Perform therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures.
- Prepare radiopharmaceuticals from cold kits.
- Prepare and administer the correct radiopharmaceutical to the correct patient by the correct route and dosage.

Utilize supplies and equipment with care in a safe, proficient, and cost-effective manner.Ensure computer data is entered for each procedure, and that charges reflect all procedures performed and supplies used.Demonstrate effective time management skills.Complete jobs / tasks in a timely and concise manner.Willingly assist in other areas of the department or hospital and act as a Health First representative when needed.Utilize Kronos time clock system properly; report to work area on time and follow break and lunch policies.Maintain flexibility and adapt to changes in workflow processes and the needs of Health First based on patient volume.Qualifications
Education and general requirements :Graduate of a JRCNMT Nuclear Medicine Program.Current license as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in the State of Florida.Registered or registry-eligible by ARRT or NMTCB.Prior Nuclear Medicine experience preferred.Current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider card prior to start date and to maintain.Computer-related skills pertinent for optimal technical performance.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Ability to report to department within 30 minutes when on call.Physical Demands
