Senior Building Automation Systems Field Engineer
Location : Project-Based Field Role (Primarily On-Site)
Pay Rate : $65,000 - $85,000

Our client is seeking a Senior Field Engineer for a permanent, full-time position focused on executing and overseeing automation and control systems in the field. This role involves managing site completion activities, performing system verification, programming, training clients, and mentoring junior team members.
The Senior Field Engineer will be stationed primarily at project sites and is expected to take ownership of the technical delivery, communication, and coordination of project work. Ideal candidates will be strong technically, highly organized, and comfortable leading field execution from start to finish.
Responsibilities :
- Perform detailed point-to-point system checkout for control and mechanical systems
- Document all verification steps in a comprehensive checkout book
- Troubleshoot, escalate, and resolve issues on-site
- Program controllers and configure graphical user interfaces per project specifications
- Train end-users on system functionality and controls interface
- Maintain accurate daily logs of work completed, issues encountered, and contractor interferences
- Understand project scope, timelines, documentation, and deliverables
- Assist with project estimating and change order identification
- Communicate consistently with project managers, field supervisors, and clients
- Manage junior field engineers and delegate site tasks
- Coordinate subcontractor responsibilities and ensure readiness for startup activities
- Serve as project lead for technical field execution
- Monitor safety and compliance procedures on-site
- Coordinate project scheduling, equipment startup, and task assignments
Requirements :
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, or related field (or equivalent field experience)Strong knowledge of control systems, electrical equipment, and automation practicesProficient in interpreting submittals, specifications, and mechanical drawingsHands-on programming and GUI development experience preferredExcellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skillsAbility to manage team members and ensure task completion on-siteEffective communicator with clients, coworkers, and contractorsWillingness to travel to project sites and participate in an on-call rotationFamiliarity with BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, or similar protocols is a plusSalary and Benefits :
