Senior Benefits Specialist

6-month Contract

Hybrid in Waltham, MA

Must be able to work on a W2

We are seeking an experienced Senior Benefits Specialist to oversee administration and compliance for our health and welfare programs. This role ensures adherence to federal and state regulations, including ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, and other reporting requirements, while serving as a primary resource for employees and plan providers on complex benefit matters.

Responsibilities :

  • Administer the full employee benefits lifecycle, including new hires, life events, open enrollment, and terminations.
  • Ensure compliance with all benefits regulations, including 5500 filings, ACA reporting, IRC testing, and other government-required filings.
  • Act as the primary contact for employees on complex benefits questions, providing guidance and interpreting policies.
  • Manage relationships with plan providers to ensure efficient plan administration.
  • Oversee benefits communications, wellness initiatives, and training materials for employees and HR teams.
  • Maintain and optimize the Oracle Benefits Module, ensuring accuracy for all events, changes, and integrations.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Payroll, HRIS, HR Operations, Legal, IT, and Talent Acquisition to ensure seamless benefits processes.
  • Manage benefits invoicing, self-billing, audits, and other compliance or tax-reporting requirements.
  • Prepare reports and analyze trends as needed to support decision-making and HR initiatives.
  • Support HR events such as performance reviews and compensation cycles with benefits-related updates.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 8–10 years of progressive benefits administration experience.
  • Strong experience with HR systems (Oracle HRMS preferred) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Deep knowledge of benefits regulations and compliance requirements (HIPAA, ERISA, ACA, non-discrimination testing).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Detail-oriented, able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and maintain confidentiality.
