JOB COACH

BDI is enhancing our community impact and fostering greater outcomes through the launch of Elevate Academy, a transformative career placement initiative. This innovative program combines workplace readiness, work adjustment training, and career pathway exploration with job placement and coaching. To ensure increased community Impact, Elevate Academy will be guided by a dedicated parent and employer task force, fostering collaboration and addressing real-world needs.

We are building a pool of on-call Job Coaches to support our interns at job sites across Atlanta and surrounding counties.

As a Job Coach, you play a vital part in the implementation and delivery of the program's core components, including skill-building, job coaching, career pathway assessments, and hands-on training during internship rotations. Collaboration with business partners, employers, and the Elevate Academy team is essential to support participants in developing the necessary skills for employment success.

In this role, you'll provide one-on-one coaching, help interns adjust to their new work environments, and providing personalized coaching to ensure long-term career success. When needed, you'll also assist our instructors in the classroom to help prepare interns for real-world experiences.

This is a contractor position, and your hours will depend on location, availability, and employer needs. You must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to different job sites as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver targeted instruction and hands-on training to ensure Elevate Academy interns excel during internship rotations.
  • Evaluate job tasks and design effective teaching tools to meet and exceed productivity and quality benchmarks.
  • Implement innovative accommodations and assistive technology to maximize intern performance.
  • Cultivate natural workplace supports that empower interns to achieve sustained success.
  • Track, analyze, and share performance data to drive continuous improvement and informed decision-making.
  • Partner with department teams to identify and deploy tools and techniques that enhance intern outcomes.
  • Engage with managers and mentors to address challenges proactively and accelerate intern progress.
  • Drive program success through flexibility and commitment to additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Coach interns with disabilities directly at various job sites.
  • Offer guidance and on-the-job training to help interns succeed in real-world environments.
  • Collaborate with instructors and support classroom learning and preparation.
  • Track intern performance and provide constructive feedback to support growth.
  • Maintain communication with program staff, employers, and families as needed.
  • Provide job site observations and report concerns or progress to the Elevate team.
  • Travel between assigned work sites and attend scheduled check-ins or events.
  • Other duties as assigned based on program needs.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree or equivalent work experience considered in lieu of a degree
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Strong teaching skills, understanding of error-free learning techniques, and systematic instruction strategies.
  • Comprehensive expertise in applying current best practices for transition planning and supported employment
  • Experience in providing classroom and community-based training (real-world settings), with the ability to adjust teaching and prompting methods and materials to meet the needs of participants and their various learning styles.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.

  • WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work environment varies based on the location of the intern's job site.
  • Routine on-site visits and community outreach engagements to foster stronger connections and ensure active collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Providing comprehensive support to interns as they navigate diverse roles and work environments throughout their assignments.
  • TRAVEL Travel to worksites, community events, etc.
