POSITION OVERVIEW

The Digital Director position will be centered around developing the best digital content for each social media platform to engage voters throughout the United States on the issue of abortion and other examples of far-right extremism.

Think Big America was founded by Governor JB Pritzker to assist initiatives and candidates around the country to expand rights and better the lives of working families.

The organization has already achieved notable wins by assisting in passing a constitutional amendment restoring abortion rights in Ohio and contributing to legislative candidates whose victories will ensure that Virginia stays a pro-choice state.

In 2024, Think Big is expanding its efforts to help with pro-choice ballot measures in Nevada and Arizona and is in discussions with numerous other states.

The Digital Director will play the leading role in executing social media strategies on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, drafting scripts for video content (and graphics, animated GIFs, etc.

setting up shoots as needed to film content, and overseeing the 501c4’s website and email program. In addition, the person will be working with the teams on the ground in states with ballot measures around the country to provide guidance and advice.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, draft and schedule organic content across a variety of social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
  • This would include designing simple graphics to amplify a post’s message.
  • Script unique and engaging video content for each individual platform that grabs voters’ attention.
  • Work with consultants, production crews, and editors to plan video shoots and develop high quality content from start to finish.
  • Develop vertical, digital-first video content that’s formatted for Instagram Reels to grow the campaign’s vertical video library
  • Monitor trends / changes in the news media, social media, and the political and digital landscape, including viral memes on different platforms, that the campaign can take advantage of.
  • Work with the Communications Director to identify opportunities to produce digital content that can potentially drive press.
  • Provide weekly reporting to the senior leadership team to track growth and engagement across Think Big America’s social media channels.
  • Work to keep the Think Big America website up to date with his most recent accomplishments, and modify the site as needed so that information is easily accessible.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience with social media copywriting across a variety of platforms with a critical eye for detail.
  • Experience learning a candidate’s voice, and being able to write social media content that feels authentic and true to the candidate.
  • Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a fast moving environment.
  • Has exceptional communication skills, especially writing and content creation.
  • Experience providing reporting on the performance of organic content that can easily be interpreted by those who are not in the weeds with the platforms.
  • An ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
  • A passion for Democratic politics and an appreciation for the governor’s progressive agenda.
  • Graphic design or basic video editing experience is a plus
  • Experience overseeing an email program and working with a firm to track key KPI’s
  • Ability to develop digital first video scripts, including both featuring the candidate but also highlighting key issues and accomplishments without the principle to camera
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (preferred) and 4+ years of experience with digital advertising, content strategy, and / or social media.
