Job Summary :
Perform skilled mechanical repair and preventive maintenance work on District vehicle fleet and equipment, including welding and fabrication. Demonstrate an understanding of CityWorks, Fuel Master, RTA and diagnostic software. Provide assistance with Building Maintenance. Assist in the training of related job duties and safety procedures to the Fleet Maintenance I position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical issues on District light and heavy-duty trucks and a variety of construction equipment.
- Assist with building maintenance activities including HVAC, car wash, and other mechanical and electrical equipment. Perform monthly inspections on the District underground storage tank (fuel).
- Assist the Division Manager in locating vehicle parts, pricing and qualified outside vendors
- Track vehicle maintenance / repairs and inventory in CityWorks and RTA
- Assist other divisions within the District with training on fleet maintenance, projects and provide fabrication of different types of materials to support the District needs.
- Assist in the planning of new District vehicles including lease vehicles and the sale of old vehicles on Public Surplus.
- Must be able to respond to emergencies as needed, including after hours.
- Various other duties as assigned.

Prior Work Experience : At least three years of job-related prior experience.
Education and Training : High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional technical or specialized training in vehicle maintenance (including vactors), ASE (A1-A8) and metal fabrication / welding is preferred.
Licenses, Certifications, Etc. :
Valid Utah driver's license Class B with tanker and air brakes endorsement is required or ability to obtain within 90 days. Hazardous-material endorsement required or must be obtained within 90 days.UST AB Operator is required or ability to obtain within 90 days.Utah State Vehicle Inspection license for Heavy-Duty Trucks required or ability to obtain within 6 months.Background Knowledge :
Requires knowledge of vehicle repairs and maintenance.Must have knowledge of vehicle electrical wiring.Ability to operate small equipment and hand tools.Requires basic knowledge in computer use skills.Ability to operate various types of welders and oxygen / acetylene torches.Performance Expectations :

Occasionally required to perform duties outdoors in all types of weather including extreme heat and cold.
Overall Effort and Work Location :
Provides daily direct service to vehicle department and limited service to all District departments.M ust be flexible to adjust for constantly changing operations.Work is generally performed during normal business hours.
