Transportation Coordinator
The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for organizing, overseeing, scheduling, and optimizing shipments using various shipping methods including but not limited to truck load, container, less than truck load, final mile, or parcel shipments. This role supports both DC and Stores with logistics, freight claims, and transportation needs throughout the company.
Job Description
Schedule outbound full truck load shipments shipping out of the distribution centers
Schedule inbound domestic full truck loads shipping to the distribution centers
Monitor truck weights for shipments.
Plan and coordinate transportation schedules, routes and delivery times
Track shipments to ensure on-time delivery and resolve any issues or delays where applicable
Prepare and maintain transportation documents (Bols, Shipping records, etc.)
Optimize routes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness
Provide updates on shipment status and resolve transportation-related issues promptly.
Schedule local delivery and LTL shipments as needed.
Monitor transportation costs and work to reduce expenses.
Negotiate rates with carriers or vendors.
Maintain accurate data for logistics planning and performance metrics.
Capture KIP's and keep spreadsheets and other reporting tools current.
Communicate with Shipping and Receiving Managers as needed.
Communicate with carriers and provide updates from carriers as needed.
Communicate with Driver Supervisor as needed regarding loads hauled by The Tile Shop internal fleet.
Schedule return trucks.
Other duties as assigned.

Clean driving record (must be insurable to operate company vehicles).
High School Diploma or GED
Excellent math, reading, communication (both verbal and written), and problem solving skills.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Ability to pay attention to detail to ensure accuracy.
Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
Strong work ethic.
Sound judgment and decision making skills.
Forklift experience preferred. Certification preferred or willing to be certified.
Able to work Monday Friday
Able / willing to work after business hours during the week and on weekends.
