American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week ICU assignment in California requiring an active CA RN license and strong critical care skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 36-bed ICU within an acute care hospital settingICU patient population includes cardiac, post-op cardiac, sepsis, ETOH, stroke, CABG, balloon pumps, cath lab patients, general medical surgical ICU, and select post-operative casesNurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 2 or 1 : 1 depending on acuity12-hour day shifts with every other weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) requiredRequired to float to Telemetry and ER for ICU holds as neededCerner PowerChart is used for chartingDrips include vasopressors, nitro, and heparin; ventilator management requiredUnit is supported by in-house hospitalist or intensivist 24 / 7, RT and Pharmacy available 24 / 7No nurse aides, but unit techs are presentExpected to provide skilled and compassionate ICU nursing care, prioritizing patient satisfactionTravelers are first to float when necessaryHoliday coverage is required alongside permanent staff; be prepared to work holidays as neededNavy blue scrubs required for all shiftsUnit-specific orientation provided, including one day on ICU and one shift on Telemetry / stepdownTravelers are not assigned fresh open-heart or craniotomy casesNo previous direct employment with the affiliated health system within the past year\n \n Requirements\n
Active CA RN license required—pending licenses not acceptedMinimum of 2 years of recent ICU experience (3 years preferred unless coming from a large institution)Certifications required : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (CCRN preferred)Two professional references required : one supervisor from within the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 yearsCopy of driver's license must be provided for considerationCerner EMR experience preferredMust pass dysrhythmia (Relias) and sterile technique clinical testing prior to and during orientation\n Benefits\n
