At Sight Machine, you will work with manufacturing leaders across industries including food & beverage, consumer packaged goods, automotive, packaging, etc. You will have access to vast amounts of factory floor data, learn how the products you use every day are made, using that knowledge to uncover insights into how customers manufacture products and develop solutions to critical business challenges. Our platform tackles complex problems, including Extract Transform Load (ETL), information retrieval, data aggregation and analytics, factory automation, distributed computing, security, and is leading the expansion into machine learning, agentic and physical AI applications.

Requirements

• Design, architect, and implement components of our streaming ETL platform with focus on observability, reliability and scalability that minimizes bugs, ensures reproducibility, and graceful recovery from failures
• Take ownership of end-to-end quality from design through implementation and testing
• Participate in code review with peers and work to improve the quality of the ETL codebase continuously
• Improve alerting to Monitor, diagnose, and resolve bugs and performance bottlenecks in production systems in a timely manner

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industry experience building robust backend systems
• Experience building high-performance systems with Java / C++
• Experience with data-intensive applications with high complexity, e.g., ETL or other data pipeline system

Nice to haves

• Expertise with database internal structures such as B-trees and LSM trees
• Experience testing distributed systems for performance and accuracy
• Experience with docker orchestration (ECS, k8s, etc.)

The pay range for this role is :

175,000 - 240,000 USD per year (SF Office)
