Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring an active AZ or compact RN license and at least two years of telemetry experience.
Responsibilities
Work in a 32-bed Cardiac Telemetry (CV Tele D2 & C4) unit within an acute care hospitalPatient population includes post-cath lab, post-vascular procedure, day 2 CABG, and general telemetry patients aged 15 and olderNurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 3-4, with PCT support at 1 per 16 patientsCentralized telemetry monitoring; RNs must be able to interpret EKGsNo pediatric patients; no ventilators used in the unit12-hour night shifts (7pm-7am) with every other weekend requiredMust be willing to float to similar or lower acuity units and to sister facilities as neededHospital uses Cerner EMR; prior experience preferredTwo-day floor-specific orientationRNs are responsible for titrating medications such as Amiodarone, Cardene, Nitro, Heparin, and Dobutamine down onlyCharge nurse has no patient assignment, and there is clinical supervisor support on the unitHospitalist rounds during the day and is on call at night; 24 / 7 RT and pharmacy support is availableMust wear navy scrubs per department policyPass / Fail testing on day one of orientation focuses on sterile field techniquesTravelers who fail required tests twice will be ineligible for six months at related facilitiesFirst-time travelers are acceptedMust not have been employed by any facility associated with the health system, including CHI and Dignity, within the past yearPermanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the facility for candidates residing in AZ, NV, NE, IA, and MNExpect to cover assigned holidays as neededRequirements
Active AZ or compact (NLC) RN license required at time of application; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum of two full years of recent telemetry nursing experienceCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications requiredMust successfully pass a dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of offer, with a maximum of two attemptsMust pass a sterile technique (Foley catheter and central line dressing change) exam on the first day of orientationMust provide two professional references : one from a supervisor within the last 12 months and one from a peer or supervisor within the last three yearsCopy of driver's license required for considerationBenefits
