Patient Care Assistant I (PCA)

General Medicine Unit is in search of a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Patient Care Assistant I (PCA). This individual must be able to provide day and night schedule, and coverage on rotating weekends and holidays. White 8 is a 27-bed adult general medicine inpatient unit, located in Boston, MA. The unit serves patients from vast backgrounds and geographic areas that present with acute and complex medical problems. Patients are generally admitted to our unit from the Emergency Department or as a transfer from one of the intensive care units. The unit is in search of a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) in White 8. Schedule : Days (7am-7pm) and Nights (7pm-7am) Mandatory weekend shifts every month.

Job Summary

Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.

Essential Functions

Qualifications

Education : High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.

Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No.

Licenses and Credentials : Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic [Massachusetts] - Massachusetts Office of Emergency Medical Services preferred Nursing Assistant [LNA - New Hampshire] - New Hampshire Board of Nursing preferred.

Experience : Experience working in patient care / elder care 1-2 years preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. Knowledge of medical terminology. Strong patient / customer service skills. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds. Proficient computer skills to work efficiently with electronic medical records.
