Job description

Freight Agent – Mansa Freight Company LLC

Mansa Freight Company LLC isn’t your traditional freight outfit – we’re a fully integrated logistics partner that fuses brokerage scope and asset‑based carrier control for both commercial and mission‑critical government operations. Veteran‑led and a proud Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) member, we run our business with the discipline of a Program Management Office (PMO) – think charters, WBS, risk registers and earned‑value tracking. Our model combines AI‑enabled freight brokerage , a surge‑capable fleet , specialized government services , and commercial logistics under one roof. When you join Mansa as a Freight Agent, you’re tapping into that infrastructure and brand credibility.

This role is 100 % commission . There is no base salary , but the upside is uncapped. We offer two splits depending on experience and book of business :

  • 60 / 40 split – for emerging agents still building a customer base. You keep 60 % of the gross margin; Mansa retains 40 % to cover tech, back‑office and carrier risk.
  • 70 / 30 split – for proven agents with a book of business and at least 2 years of freight brokerage sales. You keep 70 % of the gross margin and surrender only 30 % to Mansa for operational support.

Our Freight Agent position can be 100 % remote , hybrid , or on‑site in Henderson / Las Vegas, NV . We care about results, not where you sit. Agents are 1099 independent contractors : you’re running your own show with Mansa as your backend partner.

Location & Workstyle

  • Remote : Work from anywhere in the United States. If you’ve got a phone and Wi‑Fi, you’re in business.
  • Hybrid : Split your time between home and our Henderson, NV office to build camaraderie.
  • On‑site : Prefer face‑to‑face? We have office space in the Wells Fargo Bank building at 112 S. Water Street, Henderson, NV.
  • Hours : You set your own schedule. Customers ship around the clock; your commissions are tied to how quickly you respond.
  • What You’ll Actually Do

A freight agent acts as a liaison between shippers who need to move goods and carriers who have trucks . It’s a sales‑ and relationship‑driven role where you negotiate rates, arrange transportation, and ensure timely delivery while optimizing costs . You earn money through commissions – the more successful transactions you facilitate, the higher your income. At Mansa, you’ll leverage our technology and assets to deliver to customers while building your own book of business.

    Key responsibilities

  • Business development – Prospect for new customers, identify leads, and convert opportunities into revenue. This isn’t a hand‑fed desk; your phone and LinkedIn are your hunting grounds.
  • Carrier sourcing & negotiation – Use Mansa’s vetted carrier network to source capacity and negotiate rates that work for both shipper and carrier. You’re the matchmaker and the deal closer.
  • Shipment execution – Book your customers’ freight in our Transportation Management System (TMS), track deliveries, and ensure proof of delivery (POD) is obtained. Accuracy and follow‑through matter.
  • Relationship management – Build and maintain strong relationships with shippers and carriers. Retention pays more than acquisition.
  • Compliance & documentation – Ensure carriers meet FMCSA requirements and that documents are complete. Mansa’s back-office handles invoicing and collections, but you own the customer experience.
  • Continuous improvement – Provide feedback to our PMO, adopt AI‑enabled tools, and help refine processes. If you see a smarter path, we expect you to speak up.
  • Experience & Book Requirements

We’re not kidding when we say this is a high‑autonomy role. To protect our brand and ensure you’re ready to hit the ground running, Mansa requires verifiable proof of at least two years of prior freight brokerage or logistics sales experience . This means you should be able to demonstrate your past performance through a call log or CRM record of shipped loads and customer interactions. We’re specifically looking for agents who already maintain an established customer and shipper book – your list of active and repeat clients you’ve serviced over those years. If you don’t have a book yet, start building it; our 60 / 40 track is designed for emerging agents, but even then, we need to see evidence that you know the business.

    The Perks (Besides Unlimited Earnings)

While the role is commission‑only, Mansa provides the infrastructure to help you scale :

  • Back‑office support – Our operations team handles credit checks, billing, collections, carrier vetting and claims management. You focus on selling and moving freight.
  • Technology & data – You’ll have access to our AI‑enabled TMS, real‑time market intelligence, performance dashboards, and carrier compliance tools. It’s like having a data scientist in your pocket.
  • Asset‑based capacity – When the market tightens, you can tap our own trucks and 24 / 7 dispatch operations. That’s a selling point your competitors can’t match.
  • Government & mission support – If you want to diversify, Mansa’s PMO‑run government services give you access to specialized freight such as medical courier logistics and emergency response.
  • Marketing resources – We provide marketing materials, a company email and web‑based access to our TMS. You’re not starting from scratch.
  • Quick pay for carriers – Our carrier network benefits from prompt payments and advances, making it easier for you to secure capacity.
  • What Makes You Successful

We’re not looking for warm bodies. Our top performers are self‑directed, resilient and commercially savvy . To hit the ground running :

  • Experience matters – Ideally 2+ years in freight brokerage, logistics sales or transportation services , with an existing book of business. If you’re newer but a fearless salesperson, you’ll start on the 60 / 40 plan.
  • Communication & negotiation skills – You should be comfortable cold‑calling, running rate negotiations and closing deals. Being concise and clear on the phone is essential.
  • Technical aptitude – Proficiency with email, Word, Excel and TMS platforms is required. We provide the tech stack; you provide the competence.
  • Organizational discipline – Strong time management, the ability to juggle multiple loads, and attention to detail are critical.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset – As a 1099-contractor you’re essentially running your own business. You’ll need a home office setup (phone, computer, internet) and the drive to build your brand.
  • Clean background – You must pass a background check and have no enforceable non‑compete restrictions.
  • Ready to Take the Wheel?

If you’re driven, entrepreneurial and ready to bet on yourself , we want to hear from you. To apply, send your resume and a brief summary of your book of business to careers@mansafreightco.com . Be clear : this is not a salaried job – it’s an opportunity to earn more than you ever could on a fixed paycheck with most brokerage firms. You’ll operate under Mansa’s brokerage authority but maintain ownership of your book.

At Mansa Freight Company LLC we celebrate diversity, innovation and agility. There is no room for complacency – only for growth. If the thought of unlimited upside, independent work and making a real impact excites you, become a Freight Agent and help us move the world, one shipment at a time .
