GENERATION Applications Support Specialist (Sr. - Principal) - Work & Asset Management

The Generation Application Support Specialist Senior is responsible for optimizing the value of existing applications and software agreements for Generation via production, project, and user support including coordination of enhancement justifications. Effectively manage tasks with AEP IT and promote user experience design concepts. Partner with application users to understand business processes, needs, and priorities and lead process redesign using continuous improvement techniques, when needed. Coordinate and support work for application governance, integrations, migrations, enhancements, service requests, and maintenance. Supporting, communicating, and implementing data governance for generation applications to improve data quality and facilitate analytics. Identify and support continuous improvement opportunities for automation and digitization of existing processes in Generation. Subject matter expert in their area of responsibility / assignment.

Focus - Work and Asset Management : This position will focus on user and technology project support related to Work and Asset management. Dedicated to optimizing electric generation processes for work and asset management to ensure reliable, efficient, and sustainable energy production. Committed to implementing innovative strategies that enhance operational performance, extend asset life cycles, and minimize costs while adhering to regulatory standards. Proven ability to analyze data, manage multiple demands effectively, and collaborate cross-functionally to optimize application utilization in Generation.

What You'll Do :

  • Demonstrate the ability to monitor / maintain budgets within the departments and projects supported, understanding how decisions and recommendations impact expenses and revenues.
  • Proficient at reviewing scope, requirements, roles, objectives, and constraints to develop strategy for effective project and user support delivery.
  • Effectively manage conflict and build consensus for agreements concerning business challenges and opportunities.
  • Work with all generation business units and IT to identify upstream and downstream impacts (application and / or business process) of new and upgraded applications within generation.
  • Coordinate the development and enhancement of business processes, applications, and justifications to optimize the Generation portfolio of applications and drive standardization.
  • Including but not limited to liaison support with AEP IT for data flow, process, testing, documentation, administration, communications, and support.
  • Identify and communicate gaps and opportunities for process improvements.

What We're Looking For : Based on education, experience, interview evaluation and internal equity, this opportunity will be filled at either title. For this posting, minimum requirements are stated at the lower grade. Increased expectations are at the higher grade.

Generation Applications Support Specialist Principal (grade 8) : base salary = $97 - $124K

Generation Applications Support Specialist Sr. (grade 7) : base salary = $86K - $106K

BA / BS in engineering, physical science, computer science, business, Finance with six (6) years related experience; OR, Eight or more (8+) years relevant experience in utility industry. Experience with software projects including migrations, integrations, data dependencies and process flow. Proficient in MS Office package (Excel, Visio, Word, and Power Point)

Other Requirements & Preferred Qualifications :

  • Strong communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with all levels of AEP management.
  • Demonstrate the highest standards of ethical behavior and support the AEP's Corporate Compliance Policy
  • Experience in Agile project methodology or continuous improvement, preferred product owner knowledge
  • Initiate lead and facilitate meetings effectively.
  • Participate in establishing a healthy culture of continuous Process Improvement
  • Ability to multitask and be self directed, meet critical deadlines
  • Some travel required.
  • Data processing and preparation software knowledge, preferred (i.e. SQL, keytexting, macros, etc..)
