Inside Sales Specialist

Reports To : Manager I, Marketing

Location : Radford, Virginia

Remote Type : HYBRID - 3 days in office / 2 days remote

The North America Inside Sales Specialist is responsible for directly engaging with new and existing customers, with the goal of generating the volume and quality of sales-ready leads required to achieve company objectives for new business growth. The North America Inside Sales Specialist will qualify inbound leads as well as execute outbound call campaigns targeting strategic market segments, including robotics, medical, aerospace and defense, and other areas of industrial automation. Campaigns will span a range of goals, from new contact identification and qualification, nurturing, new business prospecting and lead generation to retention. The North America Inside Sales Specialist will use a combination of phone, email, chat, web, and social platforms to identify and contact targeted prospects, individually and with cross-functional support, partnering closely with Marketing, Customer Support, Application Engineers and Area Sales Managers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute Lead Qualification and Lead Generation Campaigns
  • Engage and evaluate leads from all marketing activities, including Kollmorgen online properties, digital advertising, tradeshows, and events, applying effective conversation techniques to maximize the conversion of leads to sales-ready opportunities
  • Leverage phone, email, chat and social outreach to contact prospective customers
  • Successfully navigate to the correct individual within a site / company that is responsible for motion control and convey a resounding customer value proposition
  • Utilize tools including Salesforce, 8x8, Live Person, ShowPad, Visual Visitor and LinkedIn Understand customers scope of readiness for motion control projects and the appropriate Kollmorgen available to satisfy customer needs
  • Identify new target accounts and contacts that align with Kollmorgen's target industries and maintain accurate and robust CRM profiles of accounts, customers and prospects to maximize opportunities for data-driven, relevant marketing
  • Generate sales ready leads at or above target
  • Work closely with our outside sales team to move prospective customers through the sales process
  • Partner closely with Marketing team in testing and optimizing new tools and approaches to more effectively capture and manage leads, including but not limited to online chat, automated lead scoring, etc
  • Actively participate in team activities and daily management reviews to evaluate and optimize marketing activities, from lead generation through qualification and conversion to revenue
  • Follow and support improvement of the Inside Sales standard work processes and documentation
  • Actively seek feedback from Supervisor and Sales teams for improved quality of lead qualification and engage and share ideas with other Kollmorgen Inside Sales teams
  • Assist Sales and Marcom in augmenting and maintaining customer database
  • Ensure accurate data entry for all prospect / customer contact information to support future sales and marketing efforts
  • Identify new contacts at existing accounts
  • Update existing customer records to ensure database is accurate and complete
  • Support strategic account development by identifying decision makers at target accounts

Experience and Skills

  • 2-year associates degree preferred in a technical, marketing or business discipline, 4-year bachelor's degree preferred
  • Sales and marketing experience, B2B phone sales preferred
  • Technical interest, technical background or experience in motion control preferred
  • Experience in the use of CRM systems (preferably Salesforce) as well as tools for lead management and acquisition, such as LinkedIn Navigator is preferred
  • Microsoft Office application proficiency
  • Ambitious and self-motivated individual who is goal oriented and driven by results
  • Will be a self-starter, tenacious and proven team player capable of prioritizing his or her own work and / or problems simultaneously. Unfazed by phone rejections and hang-ups
  • Quick learner with the business aptitude and acumen to apply to daily work
  • Effective time management and strong planning and organization skills
  • Leverage process and best practices to achieve consistent outcomes
  • Detail-oriented. Must take good notes, be consistent and follow up with tasks
  • Proven critical thinking skills and problem-solving methodologies
  • Able to understand complex technical concepts and develop advanced knowledge in motion control to adequately advise customers on selecting the best Kollmorgen solutions to solve their motion problems
  • Must be comfortable working in a high-energy, quickly changing and demanding environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication and selling skills.
  • Able to politely and thoughtfully ask thoughtful ask questions, respond to objections and navigate to key decision makers and influencers of motion control purchases based on your discretion to create a new opportunity
  • Able to go "off script" as necessary based upon direction of phone conversation yet remains focused on qualifying individual
  • "Professionally social" enjoys speaking on the phone with prospects and customers; demonstrates natural yet professional phone approach; able to build rapport during phone conversation
