Job Duties :
Detailed Orthodontic Assistant Duties
- Assist the orthodontist with dental procedures, maintain excellent patient service, integrity, flow.
- Removing / replacing wires & bands
- Preparing patients for banding / de-banding
- Ability to take, develop and “mount” accurate, high quality radiographs / intra-oral photos / orthodontic photos.
- Taking dental molds / impressions / scans of patients’ teeth
- Clear Aligners (3M Clarity / Invisalign) scanning / bond attachments
- Clean, sterilize and prepare the equipment and operatory, prior to and after a patient’s appointment.
- Review patient chart, document appropriate patient information and health history during the exam and treatment
- Ensures all consent forms are completed prior to procedure
- Managing appropriate documentation for patient records- photos, notes, follow- up conversations, patient education.
- Track the incoming and outgoing lab cases, monitor and order supplies.
- Educate the patients on proper oral hygiene and address their questions and / or concern.
- Assist the business administrative team in scheduling patients
- Computer proficiency and the ability to learn new programs
- Communicate and work alongside dental staff to provide the patient with high level of care

Keep dental units ready, stocked and cleanoversee cleanliness of the treatment room according to sterilization proceduresDisinfect treatment rooms according to OSHA regulationsSterilize all instruments and handpieces according to OSHA regulationsKeep trays, instruments and treatment room drawers organizedensure that office sterilization procedures document is on displayPromptly send out and monitor all dental laboratory casesInventory Management
Monitor inventory and order supplies as neededEnsure that treatment rooms are stocked at all timesOffice Participation
Help in other areas of the office when necessary (i.e., answering phones, unpacking supplies, completing insurance forms, moving former patient records, etc.)Be an active participant in team meetingsPromote team concept by interacting with others in the officeMinimum 2 year dental assistance experience required.
